Pullstart string replacement
Hi
Well i have had some bad luck with pullstarts recently, firstly about 2 weeks ago, i melted(yes melted) the string on my kyosho fazer pullstart, and yes im sure, however the coil and the surrounding is fine, now my lhs told me they dont stock string only for pullstarts and its extremely hard to do, which is why they dont, however a new pullstart was $50nzd, which i dont really want to justify right now, because i hardly use the fazer except for the occasional quick run when my firestorm isnt working. And after the motor got to such a temperature that it was hot enough melt the pullstart string i figured the condition of the rest of the motor is questionable, not to mention the cars age and it has had countless litres through it. Rather get a new motor if anything
Anyway i left that, but yesterday my firestorm pull start string also snapped(frayed through) so now i have 2 cars without pullstarts in working order
So my question is where can i get the pullstart string i need? Just how hard is it? I mean the hobby shop is quite probably just talking it up to make me buy a new pullstart
is there a specific diameter it needs to be or anything? please dont link me to a US site because i am in new zealand
Would this be suitable? Its the only one i could find on ebay that ships to NZ
http://cgi.ebay.com/Dynamite-String-...item5d297adbda
alternatively is there a substitute that is suitable for it? like a certain type of rope i might be able to source here?
Thanks in advanced for any help

RE: Pullstart string replacement
As for replacing it its kind of a headache re-winding pull starts. I've repaired 3 pull starts and its probably the biggest headache on a RC to fix.
You can find guides on re-winding pull starts its not that hard just it takes alot of patience. Think it took me 20-30 mins last time I had to do one. Only advise I will give is do it slow and steady.
