Brushless is pretty Powerful......
I see this All the Time at the Track......
People move up a class and install a Brushless system and start Breaking things on the Car.....
The first thing to go,,,is usually the rear Dogbones/Universals.......Then the Spur Gear.....Followed by the Diffs.....
Brushless equals more Speed.
Brushless also equals more Maintenance and Breakage too.....[:@]

You forgot to mention stripping out wheel hexes. Ripping tires off rims etc.
Besides the issue i mentioned above, with the steel diffs installed the truck is holding up to brushless quite well.

Saw these on the site. Are there any that fit the mt10? I hate dogbones and i just broke a front axle so i'm thinking, this solves two problems.

Well, this will be my first electric RC. I've been looking at Red Cat volcano, Mad Truck, Losi High Roller, and the MT10. Just searching around to get best price. My kid was wanting an electric RC so after searching around and doing some research i think this will be it. I was wanting something cheap but durable and have options to upgrade when needed. Hope it's as good as it looks.

Got the truck today. Looking around to find the right motor and esc. I got a 3800mah nimh and 6800mah nimh batteries off Ebay.

Nice, they added some upgrades since I bought mine.
Mine came with an Am radio and different tires.
The threads on the your tires are more aggressive.

here's a short vid of my lady taking out the Himoto MT10 for a test spin. This is pre brushless stock with 550 motor and 100 amp ESC 7.2v
Brushless build will have 80 amp ESC and Tacon 3200kv 3850 BL

RE: ***OFFICIAL MEGA E MT10 THREAD***
Well, i've got most of the parts to start my brushless build. I still need to grab diffs and little stuff. The ESC i have doesnt have an ON/OFF switch on it(like the stock esc). I need to find out how i will be turning the car on and off.
Updated:
So ill figure a way to install a power switch later. I got most the job done so far. When i power up the truck the motor beeps at me. Not sure why but cant seem to get the damn thing to stop. No power to the servos or motor yet. I know the ESC needs to be programmed but cant seem to do that with the motor beeping at me. 0o

Looks like you got a plane esc, you won't have reverse or brakes with that esc.

This post from the other thread explains why it wouldn't work:
ORIGINAL: Cleared2Engage
That's a prop brake. It works the same as the drag brake in castle esc's. It won't work like a cars brakes. Forward or reverse means that you can reverse the spinning direction of the prop without taking apart the cowl to reverse the wires.

Well, i'm done with the brushless build on my MT10. I ended up buying the wrong diff gears so its still stock. ESC is HobbyKing brand.

Nice!
Are you using the stock pinion?
When i went brushless (3300 kv motor) i had to use smaller tires and a 19T pinion to get good temperatures.

RE: ***OFFICIAL MEGA E MT10 THREAD***
My MT10 still has the stock pinion. The motor gets abit warm but nothing on the hot side. That video was ran on 7.2v NiMh batteries so there wasnt alot of power running the system. I have since bought a few 7 and 8 cell(8.4 - 9.6) batteries and might have to change the gearing. I also bought some lower profile tires(Traxxas Anaconda 2.2) and some new rims(RPM Bully Chrome 2.2) to help keep the truck stable on hard turns.
I don't understand gearing all that much yet. I'm not sure what pinion gear to get.
Not too bad for under $200 for everything so far.
QUESTION:
Should i be worried about frying my ESC when running NiMh batteries? The ESC doesnt get warm at all running 7.2v. Only the motor slightly gets warm. Is there anything i should change when i get my new 8.4 and 9.6v NiMh batteries? I'm not planning on running LiPo in this build anytime soon. ESC is an upgraded 45amp HobbyKing. Not sure of the max burst ampage on it. There's no details listed on the item page.

RE: ***OFFICIAL MEGA E MT10 THREAD***
Esc should be fine. It's the motor to be worried about.
A temp. gun is a good investment, motor should not get above 200 F. Keeping it at no more than 160 F is good practice.
A higher gear ratio means more torque but less top speed. A lower gear ratio is the exact opposite.
Gearing for speed increases the stress on the motor, batteries and esc . So the lower the gear ratio, the hotter your electronics will get.
To lower gear ratio you increase pinion size or decrease spur size.
For higher gear ratio you decrease pinion size or increase spur.
Generally to get your perfect gear ratio you try different size pinions and monitor temps. and adjust accordingly.
Note that the mt10 uses mod 0.6 pinions sometimes also called 48p metric.
This refers to the pitch of the gears.

RE: ***OFFICIAL MEGA E MT10 THREAD***
Thanks for that explanation. You couldn't have said it better. I bought an infrared temp gun a while back for my nitro cars so ill keep an eye on the temps while running. I'll start testing out gearing soon and experiment a little with gearing.
