RE: free Apache body for micro gear fairy/picoo z/havoc heli
I was sent a syma fairy from blasteronline.com to make a commercial for them, it had an extra chip on the front of the board, I noticed it didn’t need to be trimmed every flight and I wonder if that chip had something to do with it. I also heard the new havoc apache heli has updated tail software that is supposed to be much more stable. I think those chip designs may be making it into these mini Hughes helis as well.
I made another apache with the desert paint job, and I stole the wings from the picoo z tollbox paper apache, they look much cooler. But I think I used to much glue because it only flies for about 4 min now, but all the extra weight and the new wings make it fly better then it ever has before, it looks really scale in the air now, I have some video, I’ve just got to do some editing on it then I’ll post it.
I’m so glad I have my micro heli, without it I would be suffering from serious heli withdrawal every day.

superb another set of invaluable tips, really loved the CGI pilot lol bet that took some time to animate. My Huey has suffered a minor set back but I have started a new one in Blue foam. My two new copters are a little sensitive to set up but the power is amazing. They both fly on quarter throttle but that creates trim changes as the battery powers down. I dont seem to have enough tail control at the moment but I need some new tx batteries. They have taken a bit of getting used to and I'm still waiting for a replacement tail rotor for the original 300. Been a bit busy with work and stuff just lately so will get back into it all shortly
Great video keep em coming you are a real inspiration

rendering the cg took longer then animating it, each render was maybe 8 or 12 hours.
I have seen a new tail prop out their with 3 blades on it, apparently it comes with the new micro gear version of the fairy, I have also heard of upgraded tail software in the havoc apache and the havoc version 2, it is supposed to give you greater control over the tail, I wounder if one of those chips could be soldered into the fairy heli frame .

RE: free Apache body for micro gear fairy/picoo z/havoc heli
well had a trial run with the Huey body on and boy was it noisy. seems like it echoed the motor sound in the body. Flew OK but its still a little heavy so needs thinning out more. Not painted it yet, didn't see any point until everything was trimmed up. I used one of the new choppers but replaced the main shaft with a carbon one and ball raced it. I also used one of the new main rotors I bought and everything is very efficient. Without the body on I'm getting a good 10 minutes flight time as they fly on about 1/4 throttle with just blips for turns etc.
I figured out the problem with the tail rotors on both machines. There was a hairlin crack on each of the tail rotors in exactly the same place that was causing some flex in the rotor. Replacing them with some Picco originals cured the problem instantly and transformed them into great handlers
I now need some higher ceilings as they fly so well its difficult to keep them low. Still trying to figure out whether I can use my web cam to film them in sufficient quality

RE: free Apache body for micro gear fairy/picoo z/havoc heli
The picco z is made by silverlit, the havoc heli is made by air hogs, air hogs licensed the technology from silverlit so they are almost the same helicopter, If you live in the us, you should get the havoc, it is sold at walmart, toys r us, target sells the apache havoc. The fairy, which i put the apache canopy on is made by micro gear and syma, it is sold at frys and online. i personally like it because it is easy to fix and the plastic canopy can be easily removed and replaced with others.
However, the havoc version 2 as well as the air hogs apache have new software controlling their tail, so they will be more stable then a picco z.
The picco z is usually sold in the European and Asian market, and the havoc heli is usually sold in the american market.

Thank you so vary vary much for the paper bodykit, It works for my havoc perfectly.
I have had four failed skins, made from styrophome and a drimmel grinder.
I think the beige or blue foam idea looks rather nice! ,I'd like to try instulating foam expands ok , if you can agetate it so that the bubbles in the middle work out..
Would really love to have a UH1D huey Bell that would be The Sh#@!!!
Could you make a free one for us we could cut out?
I would have one right now but my drimmel sander bits ar getting really slick!
Oh and that german site is HOT I would totaly be in heven with one of them Huey's, OMG flash backs!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH You're all great!

RE: free Apache body for micro gear fairy/picoo z/havoc heli
ok hear are some pictures of the new laser tag micro gear helicopters from frys, ecoman item number ec10147 for 39.99 i should have video up soon.
they fly great and they have a bunch of cool new features, like they can now be either channel a,b,or c instead of always being on the same channel. It also has what they call an air brake , basically the helicopter stops moving forward when you start to land making it land very smoothly.

RE: free Apache body for micro gear fairy/picoo z/havoc heli
i haven't seen the micro gear laser tag version any wear online other then in my video, i found it at frys electronics, I have seen the $80 havoc heli version all over the place.
i did notice these battling apache helicopters for $44,
http://www.agehobby.com/newfuofpasih.html
i don't know anything about the company or the heli, but it's worth looking at.
hopefully an online dealer will start stocking the micro gear version soon.

RE: free Apache body for micro gear fairy/picoo z/havoc heli
the havoc blades wouldn't work on that heli.
I've seen those around but I've never flown one. $27 isn't a bad deal on it.
It's a 3 channel coaxial, so you would be able to control it much better then a havoc or a picoo z
it will be able to hover to a degree, and it will be able to move forward, and stop as well as spin
You are going to be stuck with the blades it has, so make sure you can get replacment blades of the same sort if they break.
you could probably use the blades from an airhogs reflex on it.
hear is a link that will translate that German canopy page.
http://www.google.com/translate?u=ht...&hl=en&ie=UTF8
click on "buy me" at the bottom of the page wear it says.
If something should not be, as expected, let us talk about it.
Mail If the construction is something unclear or beside it, f poke me with a mail
The hulls, you can "buy me"
Or right click on "buy me" and save the E-mail address
he is pretty quick to answer e-mails.
the canopies are pretty expensive, but they are supposed to be pretty high quality.
I'm pretty sure he is just a model enthusiast, not a company, so you will be dealing directly with the guy who makes the canopies.
