I cannot beleive these ZDZ'z need an idle up... I was hoping it was a air flow problem or something...

Is everyone with ZDZs using idle up then???

I don't have any sort of idle up on my zdz 80/sukhoi. It has not died on me yet. I think if you can take the measures to get the weight up front the 80 is a great motor for this plane. I have no added weight and my sukhoi weighs 23.4 lbs. Flys great.

Question on the DA100. Did you do anything special to the engine box when you attached the DA100? did you feel that you need to stuffen the box? How did you center the engine in the firewall? Got any pictures of the engine attached to the firewall?
Thanks
Jon

My 80 runs like a top too.. not one dead stick... no idle up... I have the idle set up a little, but it doesn't move the plane (at the time my 26.75 edge) I'm pretty sure I'm gonna put it in my Sukhoiu coming.... or maybe that new CG Ultimate...

Buddy bolted a DA100 right up to it. If the zdz80 isnt hurting it, the da wont either.

I doubt it lined up with the GT holes. His RCU name is Otter. Contact him.

Joe, I also have the ZDZ 80. Mine would quit when I first got it too. I found the low end was set way too rich. I am at 4500 feet, so we usually need to lean anyway. When I would setup for landing the idle would be OK for a few seconds, then it slows and quits. I leaned the low end enough to where I still have good throttle response and re-set the high end. It made all the difference. Now it burns cleaner with no black goo and runs smoother. Gas engines don't want to be run rich. I just thought this might help. Good luck, Nate

Motor only turns off after a few seconds at full throtle... either flying straight or going vertical, same thing. full throdle for 3-4 seconds then go full down stick, when motor rpm drops, I say 1-2 seconds later motor shuts off..
