this engine has one of the best or even the best power to weight racio of its class. it weighs abou 2lbs less than your zdz so whats the big deal.
anyway it wont come out 14lbs because a saito 180 comes out around 11.1/2 lbs and this engine is approx 1. 1/2 lbs heavier so my prediction is it will stay in the 12lbs range

What does your engine weigh? With mount and battery for the ignition? I personally think the H9 edge isn't the best choice for going to gas. It just doesn't have enough wing area to support the extra weight. Maybe you could look at the DP Extra, or the GP extra they have about 200 sq. in. of wing more which would help keep your wing loading down. I realize these planes will weigh in a little more than a H9 edge which will hurt your verticle, but your engine should still fly it pretty well. I don't think you would have unlimited verticle with a 30cc gas on a H9 edge anyway.

i have been trying to find whats the best and hanger 9 edge seems it up to now,,
dp extra seems to stall all the time
and greatplanes extra reccommends a 45 to 60cc gass engine

I have flow both the Gp pw extra and the Dp extra neither one had a stalling problem. Have you looked at a sig cap 232? they seem like a very good airplane with a light wing loading, although I haven't flown one. Are you stuck on an arf? Are you stuck on a scale plane?

Are you "Playin Crazy"? or really crazy? The ZDZ 50 weighs 1400 g (3.08 LBS) http://zdz-modelmotor.cz/zdz/en/ So how does the Mackay weigh TWO lbs less than the ZDZ 50 And the ZDZ 50 is 5.7 HP compared to 4.1 on the Mackay? So which has the better power to weight ratio? Thats a big deal. Go do your homework before making rude comments.

I just looked up your profile Paddy, and from what I have seen, we were playing with aeroplanes before you were probably born. So take the advice from these more experienced guys here and try not to be too sarcastic the next time. Remember you are seeking help here and should be humble and appreicate it.
Good luck,

can i just comment on what u said above.
i said this engine has one of the best if not the best power to weight racio of its range, i dont think a ZDZ 50 is in this range do YoU?
anyways thats funny how my mackay aw30cc is the same weight as my Zdz 40 so how does your zdz 50 come out lighter, thats strange.
is the zdz 50 in the same case as the 40 but more bored out or somethin?
oh yes u say 1400grams for the zdz 50 and i suppose thats without exhaurst, ignition, batteries, switches and engine mouts?
any way if this plane is no good what is a good plane for my engine, i have noticed the kankge cap 232 120size is this any good at slow landings?
thanks

gas or glow
if you plan to instal a gasoline engine in a 80" wing span and above, i think you will have some big problems !! because the gas engine are to weight for that size of plane... you will lost all caracteristics of an aerobatic plane and will have tendancie to nose drop... i'll even added that the firewall is not maiden to receive a gasser... gas engines are maiden for 87" wing span an up. belive me, H9 Edge 540, try a Moki 2.1 (glow) if you want some fun flying and make awesome aerobatic manoeuvres with easy landing and illimited vertical

RE: hanger 9 egde, how well do these fly
My H9 edge first flew with a Saito 180. It flew ok. I changed to a Brison 2.4 (weights around 2.75 lbs). Your engine is 1.3 KG or about 2.86 lbs? It had good vertical, but it was too heavy. A friend had a H9 Edge with a BME 44 on it - too heavy also. I flew the DP Extra with a Brison 3.2. Unbelievable vertical performance - but again a little too heavy. I didn't even know it was too heavy until I began to fly 1/3 scale planes and felt the difference.
There is/was a gap in the 78" (1/4 scale) size planes. They were too heavy for gas and a four stroke was marginally powered for "3D" "knock my socks off" type of flying. I got away from 2 cycle glow engines - too messy for me. Extreme flight RC has/will have some LIGHT planes in the 85" arena. These would be coupled with a ~50 cc engine for a perfect match.
I am currently flying 1/3 scale planes - I like the performance. I have ordered a Super Kraft Monocoupe for my Brison 2.4. This may not be the 3D machine you are looking for but it would have a reasonable power ot weight ratio, good wing loading, and ought to fly nice and slow (or fast)
