RE: anyone have a Miller RC Persuader??
I found his number and called him to order a replacement for my stolen starter.
He told me that he gets alot of calls from guys who have had their Miller starters stolen. I ordered a new one and will paint this one orange.
Take my wife, but don't steal my Miller starter. That just aint right.
Miller's phone 707-833-5905.

Wow, it came today, that was fast. Looks great. I have a machine shop in the back of the business and my machinist is going to route my name into the sides of the box and on the starter. If someone is going to steal it they will have to work to disguise it

RE: anyone have a Miller RC Persuader??
I just started using my Miller gear reduction starter. I'm running it on 24 volts and it starts my DA 100 effortlessly. I was thinking some guys at the field would be snickering at me but instead they come up and tell me how bad it hurts when they get wacked by thier props. I bought a cheap Stanley tool box and wired the batteries in that. It also has room to hold the starter and the pull out tray above has room for tools and stuff. This was a good investment if you ask me.

We started a ZDZ 160 twin with mine on 12V with a standard Sullivan starter motor. That thing will start a 350 V8 with a Dynatron & 24V, I bet. I don't use mine much as all my engines have electronic ignition, but sure comes in handy sometimes, especially when a motor is flooded or a little stubborn.

A friend suggested getting a Miller starter system. But $200 for a starter? The starter on my truck doesn't cost that much. I know you have to spend money for good quality but that is a lot.
I'm not flying big gassers, I have a Saito 150 I need a starter for.
There has to be a cheaper way.

Yep the Dynatron with 12 volts starts my 150 very easily. I do use a full size car battery for it though. The 7ah gell cell in my carry out box didn't have the suds.

looking for a starter for my 3w 60 and saw the statement about satio.I also own a satio 150..I am one of those guys that doesnt believe in losing fingers on big props..can the miller unit be used on both without any harm.I realize its not necessary on a 150 but can you detach it when thats the case and re attach for the gassers??Is it really one hand use.

No, once it is assembled you can't go back. There is no reason I can think of why you can't use the Miller starter on any size engine. It is just too expensive an alternative for smaller engines. You can use it on 12 volts as well, just won't turn over as fast.

I used mine to start a John Deere tractor - Just kidding. I think it would though.
BTW you dont need that expensive Dynatron starter to go with it. A standard Sullivan starter works just fine even on 24 volts. The three to one reduction reduces the torque requirement on the motor to within its specs.
