RE: OMP Fusion Picture Gallery
As with any ARF is is a good idea to go over allthe covering with medium heat when you first start. The Fusions are no different. Go over all the edges of the covering with your covering iron and medium heat. Any loose edges of covering can be tacked down with trim solvent or even thin ca if you know how to use. I did all this even on my 35% aeroworks yak.

I notice that there is a differnce between the ARF fusion and the Kit FUSION in regards to the number and placement of hinges( the kit has more) should the arf be upgraded to the # called for in the kit?

The ARF has plenty of hinges and we haven't had any issues with the hinges. Hinging is one of those personal preferences on models - folks tend to do hinges they way they like to do them. Some folks use a lot of CA hinges and others like point hinges such as Dubros.

Here's mine... Began it's life as a white ARF that I got from y'all a few months ago while they were on sale. Maidened today. Flies great. Got about 4 tanks run through it. Saito 82 for power. Great knife edge and KE spins. On final flight for the day, I noticed the gear was lagging toward the rear of the plane a bit. Flew it around the pattern a few times and decided it was just an optical illusion... NO. It was obvious that the top LG bolt had fallen out when the gear "retracted" to the leading edge of the wing on my otherwise smooth landing. Gear just neatly folded back with no damage whatsoever. My mistake for not tightening, I guess. It was actually pretty funny. Unfortunately, no one was there to witness. Again, very good plane. I think I might try an Edge kit...

Thanks Mike... I have a question for you with the 40 size tetherite gear. I have one that a friend gave me a while back. The mounting holes are drilled 1 1/8" center to center. Is this the same as the newer ones that you guys carry or are they drilled to bolt right up to the ARF 's pre drilled location, which is a bit larger? Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments Dave... I'm not much of a covering guy; I don't have much experience and I'm not that good at it. Thanks again.

Here are some pics of a Fusion-90, built from a kit. Note the 'bud' muffler. (Location: Boston area, look at the foliage in the background)

Love the ARF's that come with Mono/Ultra cote, hate that China-crap stuff. You know its going to be bad when the covering falls off just handling the parts. The adhesive separates from the film in the worse way, in a spotty way, then you cant get it heated back down in exactly the same position. I had to use packing tape to seal the edges in that spot, nothing to hold anymore, not even finished building yet!

I bought a white Fusion with the china cote covering. The covering looks good at first, but it seemed very brittle and the clear seperates from the white when you pull it loose. I used a heat gun to warm up the covering and then pulled it off. Some of the white stayed on, but I used laquer thinner to clean off the white. I am going back with Ultra Cote.

David,
Thanks, I run a body shop, laquer thinner is always on hand. Fusion looks to be a good plane. I have a Mvvs 91 to put on it.

Here's the way to deal with the chinakote and it works. Clean your covering with Windex and paper towels (no remaining oil film!). Easier to do this to a new Fusion with no oil residue.
Next, detail the covering with a warm to medium, not hot iron. When you get it all tightened up and the edges ironed down, do this;
Spray some clear Lusterkote (can spray) into the can lid. Wait a minute or so for the tiny aerosol bubbles to dissipate from the liquid. Use a small brush to apply a thin bead of the liquid Lusterkote to the covering seams (where the color meets the white). I did my entire Fusion 90 in about 45 minutes.
Let the stuff dry overnight and guys, your Fusion covering will not be an issue anymore.

I wish I had seen this earlier, I just ordered the large Fusion ARF in all White. If the "China"Kote is that bad, how hard would it be to just remove it from the beginning and replace it with something of a better quality? Obviously one buys a precovered ARF in an effort to avoid this, but ARC's don't seem to exist anymore, and if I'll need to recover it eventually anyway, I may as well do it now right?

Most 4 stroke users are going with Saito 72 or 82. Best power to weight ratio out there... 2 strokes that seem popular are the OS 46AX and 55AX. Engine prefrence runs a plenty. Good luck.
