I'd recommend using a plywood firewall instead of the carbon firewall.

Oh, ok. I think you will find that the plywood laminate will be stronger and much better for the firewall than the all carbon panel.

Inside of fuse, radio compartment. The big are by the rudder servos measures 7 1/2" wide at front, 6" wide at the back and 11" long. The smaller area is 7 1/2" at the back and 8 1/4" at the front by 5" long. I weighed my fuse with the wings, stabilizer and elevators, fin and rudder this evening on a postal scale acurate to .5 ounce and it weighs 7 lbs 2 oz.

Hey mark looks like you did'nt have to cut the motor box rail's down. do you have to make standoff's also. and i assume you mocked the zdz 60 up already. would be nice to see a picture of it if possible.

I haven't finished the engine box yet, just done alot of measuring as to how it will fit. My measurments show the 60 will mount directly to the firewall without having to cut the sides down and I won't need standoffs. I hope to have the engine box finished sometime next week, I'll post some pics when I get it all finished up.

Another thing that I wanted to ask is I know that the Colombo Anderson models do not give you a C of G on any of there models. Widebody, Extras, etc...

So does anyone know the correct C of G or one that makes the plane fly 3d/imac well? I was wondering if the 25-27% MAC thing applies here.

Default Revised Set-Up

I revised the set-up list and deleted the old one I posted to show what the new set-up is and the changes...

Description:
Firstly, CA Models wishes to thank you for choosing our Extra 300L, and we hope you enjoy building and flying your new model.
To guarantee excellent quality, we have carefully selected all the materials in your kit, like the Balsa, Plywood, etc.
Besides, like all our other kits, your Extra is kitted with the latest technology, the foam is cut by CNC, our canopies are made with special machines, our landing gear is made with using a router, and of course, our laser cutting, which guarantees the perfect aligning and fitting of each part. So good is the cutting, that plans are not even necessary during the building. The parts assemble into each other accurately.
If you find any broken, defective, or missing parts in your kit, please e-mail us, and we will replace the part as soon as possible. Also, if you need any support when you are building or flying the model, please contact us, we will be glad to help you.
Lastly, remember to spend time, to build accurately and carefully. Remember the old saying, 'Why is there never enough time to do it once, but always enough time to do it twice.' It will be faster in the end, and you will get a better flying model. Remember, these are not little toys anymore. CAMODEL SRL has no control over the final assembly therefore no liability shall be assumed for any damage resulting from the use after the construction.

Wing root showing threaded insert.

Shortman your choice of tail gear may be overkill, I haven't bought mine yet but my brother has that very same one on his H9 Sukhoi. It seems rather large on his Sukhoi and much heavier than he neads. Also I don't think there would be room on the tail gear plate on the 31% to mount it.

Tabs on stab. I put a hardwood block on the inside of the fuse and tapped them to 10-24 for the nylon bolts.

Looks great Mark! Did you double bevel it instead of the tophinge also?

Yes I double beveled everything as I didn't like the top hinge method.

Did you have to get any extra materials when you double beveled the surfaces or just use scrap?

Your going to use the ZDZ 80 RV correct? How will this fit you believe in the cowl and what cutting will need to be done?

I'm curious to see what the weight of this plane is as all the other planes are a little heavy but still light for there size.

Shortman

I had to buy new wood to make the bevels. I'm using a ZDZ 60, haven't got it mounted yet but will probably have to cut out for the head a little.
