RE: Pilot RC 100cc Sbach 342 - Build Thread
There will have to be a slight change of plan in regards to the engine for the Sbach
I had to part with the 116cc I had set aside for the project to a customer who was in an urgent need for one so I now have two choices, either wait for my next order to come in (another 2 - 3 weeks) or use another engine.
We did some tests on the 116 recently and found that with the MVVS canisters, it spins a 30x12 prop (Mejzlik) up to in excess of 6200RPM on the ground which to me indicates similar power output as a DA150
Adding to that, my measurements showed the plug caps protruding through the sises of the cowling by around 10mm each side
I have one of the original YD-A112cc engines from the first production run here in Australia which fits nicely inside the cowl. Alternately, I could order a DLE111 but the importer seems to be out of stock at the moment.
The YD-A likes a 28x10 prop and at the moment seems like the best option. If I was to go down that path, I would only have to relocate the batteries forward to compensate for the lighter weight
Decisions ... decisions .....

to bad about the mvvs i was looking forward to see how it goes with the sbach, Like I told you in the past I have a mintor 110 on mine and really like it with a 29-10 wood prop so I can imagine what the mvvs would be like with a 30-12 massive pull would have been great. there is a cheap DLE111 on rc trader brand new have a look.

I am finishing up a SBach 100cc, if the CG is at the rear of the wing tube I will have to put 8 ozs of weight in the tail to get it to balance. I'm using a DLE 111 with cans. Has anyone else ran into this problem?
