Not built up as in a wood structure, but the wings will have open areas between the ribs (foam ribs sheeted).
The fuse sides will be open bay...........

Does that mean the wings, stab, fin/rudder will be "built up" & the fuse sides will be "open bay"?
How about the bottom & turtle deck?
There will be a very small amount of sheeting........only in places it has to be!

Hey 260 Man, don't pay any attention to Tbob.
He must have gotten a lump of coal in his stocking or he's not "been getting any" lately.
Or both.

Please know that this is not an attack on Carden or Dennis.
Actually, the Carden 260 was chosen because of how well it flies.

I say go for it.
This is a Carden 300 that is being built for me right now. Mods are being done to it but nothing more than the typical modded Carden now a days.
Here are some shots of the fuse as it sits right now. What do people think it weighs as it looks in these pics?
(Its a little further along than the one this thread is about. It has the tank tray, cannister mount, Tunnel top and the motor mount installed.)
Care to guess?

RE: 40% 260 on a Diet
sure, I'll bite.
I'm working on a 35% 260 that's at nearly the same stage as your pics and it currently weighs 2lbs 13oz. So I'll guess the 40%'er being a little longer and wider is maybe 8-12oz heavier. Sooo... 3lbs 5oz-9oz. How far off am I??

I think you need to re-calibrate your scale Wayne, it's 2 oz off...
By the way as an odd comparison, just weighed my C-ARF 260 fuselage, just the fuse, no cowling, canopy or other gear. 5lb 6 oz.

Did you use a different sheeting? 1/16 or something?

Heres the weight of my fuse so far.
Couple guys were extremely close with their guess.

RE: 40% 260 on a Diet
I would think that with no sheeting around the side of the fuselage where the wing mates to the fuselage, the first time this thing snaps, you are going to crush the fuselage. I know that alot of the load will be spread across the wing tube and the incidence bolts, but anyone who has really loaded these things up has seen the impression it can leave on the fuse side. I would like to see nothing more than a success with this build, but I am really starting to question it. Good Luck!
