RE: CYCLONE 88" EXTRA 330l WITH RCGF 62CC ENGINE QUICK BUILD
No problem will post them later on tonight I'm off to work now...
Also my package from Hobby City came today with the servos and smoke system. It shipped out last Friday and got here today! Thats pretty fast considering it came from over seas.
Here are some pics... The switches are nice and have the Led on them, I also got some blue and yellow tubing to separate "Smoke Line" from "Fuel Line" The skywriter pump comes with everything needed to hook up smoke (black smoke tubing and yellow, also all the filters and check valves). I ran one of the power HD servos to see the power on them, they are not loud at all and they have lots of power and center very well I can post some quick video later also...

T3 here is your header progress. I got it drilled and I was able to place the initial bend in the smoke insert. I would have had it welded up but my oxygen tank ran dry so I will finish it off tomorrow. Also dont worry I am going to heat the tube and bend it to a good shape as it exits the header. If you look close on the inside of the header I was able to get a bend at the tube outlet so it will spray down the flex section and not into the engine.

Looks nice... You sure you didn't weld in a past life? I think you should do that for a living and forget becoming a doctor!

Looks good T3, you know if that was an Extreme Flight you wouldn't have to pin the motor box . In all seriousness I think I am going to do this to my EF Extra next time I have the cowl off. Until then I got to finish this BS paper.

Also I see your smoke pump, as far as planning the smoke injector is going to be on the top side of the header as the airplane sits on the ground so your tubing will need to come from above.

I installed three of the servos last night. Both elevators and the rudder, I will be using the Futaba 1.5in metal servo arms from Tower Hobbies. They come in 3 different colors (Silver, Red, Blue) and at $6.99 they are a good buy. Strong dependable arms, and they fit the Power HD servos perfectly!

You will like the servos. They are certainly not JR or Hitec, but for the cost concious such as myself, they are more than adequate. I have them in a 1/3 TOC extra 260 and they work very well. Centering is not "great" but good. I did not however trust the 220oz on the rudder. That surface got JR 8711.

Also you could have got one of the Power HD 9660 for the rudder 270oz ($65.00), or just stacked up 2 9150's. For a lot less, and you would have had plenty torque fo a 33% plane. But to each his own! how long have you been flying with your power HD ones?
There also is the Hyperion DS-20UMD 320oz of torque! for $38.00 from AlleRC.

Hey TJ, got the smoke tube welded up. I still need to cut it to length and cutom bend the tube. After that I will clean up the welds and the flux residue so its nice and perty again. Thankfully I was able to keet the inlet bend as I welded so the smoke will shoot towards the flex and not into the cylinder.

Dude TJ, header is done. I left it a little long in case you need to bend it or whatever. If you need you can just dremmel off the excess. The weld came out good, I got a solid bead around the joint.

TJ,
Could you post some pictures of the control horn setup? I seem to have missed that somehow.
I can't wait to see some video! Hopefully STL will thaw out enough for a test flight soon. That color scheme really pops out and I think it will look great in the air.

RE: CYCLONE 88" EXTRA 330l WITH RCGF 62CC ENGINE QUICK BUILD
Hey Bterry,
The ARF comes with everything needed except washers for the bolts that go through the wings. I had some laying around so I used them, the ones that are on the top are nylon that are concave and conform to the shape of the bolt head. (its not flat) I still have to go over the plane with the heat gun![8D]
also I had a couple MPI arms in my box so I used them for the ailerons since they already fit the socket head bolt for the ball link. The Futaba ones have to be drilled out first. I used them on the horizontal stabs though.

RE: CYCLONE 88" EXTRA 330l WITH RCGF 62CC ENGINE QUICK BUILD
OK,
I'm almost finished! I got most of the avionics in today and I'm going to try and run the engine tomorrow. I have a PT model 23x8 carbon fiber prop from TBM to put on it, but I have to find someone with a drill press so that it doesn't get messed up. I want to get the engine going so 6pack and I went to the LHS and I just picked up a Pro Zinger 22x10 to break it in with. (thats the best they had, it was still $31.00!) We also picked up a couple cases of Super Dri smoke oil $13.00 bucks a gallon! its $23.00 at Tower Hobbies.
Also there is a picture of the Hobby City giant scale power switch I used, they are good switches with Red LED's on them.
The yellow thing that's on top of the receiver is The EMS/Jomar glitch buster, its $59.00 from Tower.
It Reduces radio interference caused by long leads and heavy duty, high
power, multiple servo installations.
Three time proven isolation techniques combined in one small package.
All 8 channels fully optically-isolated for No Radio Interference.
Receiver and servos use separate battery packs for full electrical
isolation.
Each output channel is buffered and capable of driving up to four
servos.
Servo battery may be a 4, 5 or 6 cell battery pack while still using
a standard 4 cell pack on the receiver side.
Thats why the receiver (mounted on the bottom of the EMS) has a separate battery than the servos.
and the last pic is the Smoke tap that 6pack did, it looks good and It should hold up fine to anything![8D] thanks again 6pack!

Looks good man, post some video of the engine run up tomorrow. Also since you got some superdri might as well try a bit o smoke.
Also for those wondering I saw the plane today and the construction is solid. The color scheme will definately pop TJ just needs to give that bird a little TLC w/ Iron . Best of all its light as hell, with that 62CC its gonna be a 3D missile.
