I would question the scientific nature of that linked test. A 1 mph difference can be caused by just about ANYTHING changing in between the runs (e.g. wind speed, temperature, mixture, whatever). Not to mention the accuracy of the equipment used. Is that the whole article? They could have been a little clearer about how the test was even done.

I think GeeReg is right there are too many variables to consider that could have possibly changed. As for the 60 mph figure, wind speed does play an effect at all speeds but at 60 mph the effect really comes into play but I believe the real figure is more around 40 mph

im a plane guy and a car guy. and let me tell you that wind speed makes big changes. just a little wind can make a difference in how fast (ground speed) you are able to go.
