RE: Cybercopter
I have heli up and running and it has a very solid hover. I have not gotten much beyond that as I am retraining myself on elec. heli. Batteries were an issue as I started with 1200hc lipo and they didn't have the power I wanted. Tried two 1200's in parallel and worked but heavy. Factory recommended new 1500hd lipo which FMA just started selling. Should be here today. I am changing from CWS 30 amp heli controller to Jedi 30 amp heli controller as I was experiencing problems with the GWS. Only spares I have needed were extra tail shaft penion gear (rides on front main gear). These seem to strip with any tail strike and I had to readjust the mesh of these two gears. They are $3.40/each and I recommend ordering extras if anyone buys this really nice heli. I also bought the new optional sport canopy to improve the looks of the thing. Be glad to answer any questions that I can if anyone e-mails me . Luther. [email protected].

RE: Cybercopter
Greetings to All…I’m new here..and hope you do not mind I just jump in here.
I was reading all of your input on the Cyber heli and I had picked one up a week ago.
And just now have found this forum.(Thanks Fred)..Well here is my adventure with the Cyber Heli.
Got my Cyber Heli first week of Sept.
My Setup.
Mega 16/15/4
Stock Pinion (Drilled out pinion to fit mega)
TMM 18amp Brush less controller (Non-Heli ver) I will be updating that very soon. With a Castle Creation Phinox 25 controller. (This Heli will fly GREAT using governor mode.)
Gyro is a Futaba Gy240
Rx Hitec Electron-6
Battery pack is 3s1200Lipos
I never set it up with the stock motor system (Speed480) So Can give my experience with that setup.
BUT with the Mega Setup and Lipos…. Woooohooooo PLENTY…Shall I say it one more time…. PLENTY of lift to do some serious Pull out right from the floor…JUST LIKES THE BIG GUYS! She fly’s (TO ME) like a Hornet but with a tad bit more stability.
The macanics are impressive on this little bird. BUT EXOTIC and only one place has them if parts are necessary…(Get extras parts when ordering) Also I did find the alum parts to be a bit on the soft side and screws easily strip.
Also I had MAJOR problems with the tail gear…. The tail rotor itself is sweet and worked great…The Gear that meshes with the Main gear for the tail rotor Strips REALLY easy…. just the power of my brush less motor strip it every time I replaced it.
So I had to come up with a fix. For me the fix was to just motorize the tail rotor.
But I’m no engineer so I took a shot at and used the Piccolo-Pro Tail motor mount, a High authority motor and the piccolo Tail blade.
I removed the Tail boom Drive shaft, bearings ,gears..Ect…. Drilled a small hole on one end to pass the motor wires through the tail boom…and one hole to exit to my tailboom controller…I’m using a Pixe-20 …I know I could have used a pixie-7 …but didn’t have one and didn’t want to buy one…so I used my Pixie-20…
Also I used a Mini Deans to connect tail motor to controller so i can still use the carry case to transport and play any time any were.....(as long as it safe)
Anyhow long stories short…the tail setup works PERFECT!!!!! ROCK SOLID…MORE authority then before with stock setup. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
And for the overall flight with the brush less and lipos are impressive to me…. VERY STABLE (it likes a high head speed) don’t ask what the speed is…No-Tach readings…But I know its up there…. Like I said tail is rock solid…my flight time with lipos were 11minutes. Of dead hover. (The test took pace in my small living room)
I’m sure I could have gotten more time, but didn’t want to drop out on low voltage cut off…(Remember my controller is not a Heli ver No soft off)
I checked the temp of lipos (Warm)
Motor (Warm)
Tail motor (Barely warm)
Controllers (not warm to touch)
I will post my Results on FF flight and some mild acro. This bird is in NO WAY 3D Capable….
But I think it can handle some mild acro. No 3d…it doesn’t look like it has the neg pitch ability required for 3d.
Here are a few photos of my current setup…I will continue to experiment with motors, pinion, blades. Also I’ll chec back here from time to time to see what you guys are doing here.
Best of luck to all….Happy Flying!
BTW: I have a Video of it hovering in my living room on Lipos and Brushless setup..You can see clearly it as plenty of power..Email me (PM) if you want the 6meg file.

Drawback no.1, no support for spares [>:]. If only they've offered it on a promotion initially (perhaps on a more reasonable price) and let people scrutinize it, then maybe they would have lots of followers.
Summing up the cost between this, Eolo and Logo 10. I would definitely end up with almost at the same price range. That's why I'm scheduled to have a L10 .

It not fair to cyber copter that your compairing it to a Logo-10
The logo-10 is a WHOLE DIFFERENT BEAST!
And as for parts, AMD has ALL the parts in stock seeminly instock all of the time.
Its just a bummer for us US guys to have to get a few parts...thats why you got to order like a crash kit when you buy this little bird.
Even the Elo is a MUCH different bird. Both Elo and logo-10 are ture 3D capable Helis.
The Cyber Heli is NOT 3D capable. its nice for FF, mild acro (Loops, If high enough rolls are possible.)
one other note. for the 299.00 you get a nie pretty much completely built heli.
with a cool carry case. For the 299.00 it's worth it.
As mentioned in my first post here on RC-Univer, the Cyber has some small problems I would like to see worked on.
1- More travel on the Swash to make it 3D capable.
2- MUCH BETTER tail gear ( tail gear to main gear ) Strip VERY EASY..You dont even have to have a tail boom strike, just applying full power can strip it.
3-Do not use alum screws, they strip very easy...On a heli everything should be nice and tight...and one turn to many can strip a screw too easy.
4-A much better tail rotor push rod system is nessary. I make a realy nice CF-Pushrod setup.(then got tired of stripping tail gear and just went with a motorized tail.
Well, I hope AMD doesnt mind my review.but I think most will agree with theses nessary upgrades to there heli...Ooooo and a USA dealer is a must...
With All said, this little Heli fly's really nice, FF and hover are really stable!
Lets see some more photos of different setups????
Any Canopies out there yet? (Lets see them)

RE: Cybercopter
Actually, It's the price that I'm talking about and the desire to have a machine that I can grow with that lead me to Logo10.
The cybercopter is indeed a beauty but quite heavy for it's size hence a not 3-D capable CP helicopter! (~ 500g). As you have reviewed, it seemed that the design is not yet mature hence modifications were made.
Perhaps it's just a matter of personnal choice. A logo 10 kit here in HK is $295. Comparing the price between the two (BL set-up,Gyro, etc..), there would be a price difference of ~$100.

RE: Cybercopter
I just got my cyber copter off ebay for under $200. Its a very well built helicopter and is a good design. However they have to watch their quality control because mine has some tolerance problems that caused severe binding in the head assembly, I had to correct this by filing down certain parts to loosen it up. Also the screws as was mentioned strip to easily.. just backing them out its possible to strip if it was tightned to much in the first place during assembly at the factory. In my opinion this heli is in a class by itself. I have a hornet and a feda model.. these cannot compare to this helicopter in terms of strength and design. However all this comes at the price of weight. Over all this is a very impressive helicopter for the money.. considering that just the swashplate alone being made of aluminum would cost close to $80 on the other helis of this class.

RE: Cybercopter
About locations that are hard to order helis from.... check out where i live... indonesia.
There's only a small hobby shop where i live and i have to wait a long time for a shipment to arrive IF an online hobby shop will accept purchases from my country (by the way, it's blacklisted...) and will ship here... Darn!
And don't forget to include the shipment fee...!
Any suggestions? Not many people trust orders from my country......

RE: Cybercopter
My friend bought this heli, and from him I know that this heli is a piece of crap.
DO NOT BUY THIS HELI. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.
The QC was very very poor.

RE: Cybercopter
Jellybean,
AMD will have their official on-line retail site soon.
http://www.amdhobby.com
rcMart only has the Servo for Cybercopter in stock now.
but will get more such parts in stock soon.

RE: Cybercopter
I have been seriously thinking about getting into one of these, but the negative comments on quality control have me on the fence.
My first question is about the aluminum screws(?) that easily strip, could they simply be replaced with similar sized stainless steel screws in order to solve problem altogether? Or would this put the recieving aluminum body parts at more of a risk. I guess what I'm really asking is, Is the problem that people are having with stripping... with the screws themselves or the recieving tapped holes in the aluminum body parts?
I would rather strip a screw than a body part... screws can be replaced alot less expensively.
My second question is about a crash kit. Besides the typical peices found in prepackaged crash kits for other helis, and besides the little pinion tail gear (I think I would follow Luv2Fly's good idea and steal a tail motor combo off of something else), Does the AMD Cybercopter have any other unique parts that without question won't make it through my drunken style flying?
Lastly, besides the neat look, Luv2fly's excitement about it's lift, overall well written review and description and his modifications, have me nearly sold. The fact that it isn't truly 3D doesn't really have me concerned, can anyone tell me of a comperable electric CPPM helicopter as far as price, modifyability, stability and lift. Keep in mind, I have this really hot neighbor that lives on the second floor and she always leaves her bedroom window open, I will be adding some weight to my future chopper in in the form of video equipment. Ha ha.. I'm just kidding.

RE: Cybercopter
It's possible to modify the cybercopter to increase negative pitch travel by simple modifications to the linkages. I'm still working on it. Its quite easy to do actually. I will post a pic when I got it working.

so any links for
helli and parts would be nice

RE: Cybercopter
ok found it thanks guys
go to eeeeeeeebbbbbbbbaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy and search for cybercopter in world search and youll get to the e-shop where you can buy parts and copters
im not asoiated with them in any way it is just i found it hard to find and im providing my findings for the next person
if pitch was a problem because the swashplate was too thick couldent you mod a thinner one on to it like a hornet one
or couldent you make a longer mainshaft???
ok NOW the links are working sorry guys leave me to rant lol

hang on! that video on the previous page and the pix show a separate tail motor. I'm sure I saw an advertisement for the Cybercopter on the web which showed a drive shaft to the tail like the shogun/zoom.

Can I use the follow brushless motor in the cybercopter:
Maximum Power consume: 250W
RPM/V 2560
Motor diameter: 36mm
When I can use this motor, how much teeth must the gear wheel have?
Which size of battery must I use when I want use NIMH zells?
