same here revo vega...im putting 50% of everything i make into the bank for my real car...parents said they'll pay insurance if i buy it. so i need to start saving now.

I have to pay half insurance, half car payment and gas []. I am starting to lean away from an older 95 Cobra. sports car +16 year old= high ass insurance payment. Also, it has a 5.0L V8...not the best mileage. Think I will have to settle for an 03 WRX or a SRT-4, I just hope they don' consider those sports cars.

I gotta tell you as and adult i would have been seriously pissed off!!!! 1. you took liberties with my personal finicial situation without consulting me first. That would be like you taking a 100.00 dollars out of personal drawer without asking first it shows a lack of responsiblity and respect. You don't know what your parents have in thier checking account, you could have overdrawn thier funds. That would be like your mom saying oh, he has 100.00 dollars in his drawer I'll just borrow it and go buy some perfume and tell him later, in the mean time you owe big bad joe down the street 100.00 dollars for an engine he sold you, and he said if i don't get the money by such a date I'll break your left arm.

Do you get it? Now if you said before mom Im came across a great set of shocks for my rc truck can i use your ebay password to buy them, and she preathorized you to do so i see no problem with that, knowing of course you'll pay her back later.

Im not trying to be cruel here just show more responsibility first.

No matter what car I get, it will not be a Honda. Even if I wanted gas efficent, I would go with a Cobalt or a 4 banger Lancer.

The sad part of it all is, when you become an old man like me, you start looking at all the what ifs when it comes to owning and insuring the real car you drive every day. Society is so sue happy you have to be able to afford the right kind of insurance coverage to protect your ass and assets. Deep in my soul lies a motor head, fast beautiful cars, but insurance premiums etc, income keep me driving slower reliable cars that i can afford to insure, and it also takes the motorhead out of you, you gotta think about good sensible, safe driving.

Thats why i like my rc trucks I go nuts with them, and get no speeding tickets etc. You'll understand when you become a old fart like me, unless you become a rich old fart, then that will change things cuase you afford to insure them fast cars etc.

Don't worry Jarrett, things are cool we all make mistakes, I made plenty growing up and still make mistakes

Ya, I also keep that in mind. If insurance isn't too high ona Subaru or neon, I will probably go with one of these two. If not, I will go with a gas efficent 4 cyl car. I don't have to pay for a house, internet, tv...etc and etc like my Dad has to. I am also going to help my dad out with some house bills, it seems right.

Support your country, buy domestic. for example the neon is fine, the other cars mentioned are not... I support my country and will only buy something foreign if it is the only option or it is truly superior, the asians think quality is something that lasts 2 years, meanwhile the europeans don't see a need to throw anything away, and the americans are close to the middle, but the quality is nearly superior, or superior to anything made in europe, plus the bonus of it being made in america. for example, the best pare of asian shoes (china, japan, taiwan, etc) will last a year if your lucky, meanwhile a good pair of european shoes (italian, english, etc) will last 10-15 years. and a good pair of american shoes will last about 8-12 years. the same applies to cars, a ford will easily outlast a honda, and a landrover will likely outlast a ford (new, and based on mileage before needing serious repairs).

all im sayin is support your country, and get a better quality product in the process.

Well, I have my three sons. They are grown and gone now, but you did nothing out of the norm. Proud of you for owning up to it and paying the dues. Whatever they were. Glad to see you are into R/C! The full scale cars? Get what you want, 'cause in the end, it is you, you have to please! Keep on working and keep the faith!

Well, if I went down the gas efficent path, I might go with the Cobalt. But Cobra's, Camaro's, and T/A's are gonna be suuper high on insurance. The neon is quick but it's still a neon [&o]. Plus, I like the idea of 4WD, 4 Doors and a turbo of the Subaru.

I'll be buying a ranger, that I can do everything with, and for going fast, I'm buying either a Ducati 1098, or a Yamaha R1, Yamaha is the one japanese brand that I will buy as a first choice, all their stuff is very high quality, we have had a Yamaha Banshee for 13 years, and the only thing we have had to do to it in that time is buy a new chain roller. It's about ready for a top end rebuild, but it runs great for a jap vehicle. I'm almost 16, and I've been working at a movie theater since I was 14, and I have nearly 25 grand saved up, by my 16th birthday I chould bave 30 grand. Plenty enough to buy a ranger and an streetbike.

I pass on Bikes, I know I would do something stupid with it. I know you are not going to do speed limit with that R1. bump into a SUV going 100 MPH=1 dead body.

I've been riding motorcycles and quads since before I was born (my mom was pregnant), my first trip to the dunes was when I was 2 weeks old, I got my first quad at age 5, and started riding full size quads at age nine, as for street bikes, my uncle has one and we ride it all over near his house (he lives in the middle of nowhere), and the R1 is one of the best handling, best braking bikes made, so I doubt I will ever crash. even so, Rothleberger (sp?) crashed into an suv goin like 150 and he was a little messed up, but he survived. and I am going to gear it down for accelleration anyways.

forgot to add that 100mph + a jap car like a subaru, and an SUV can also equal one dead body, possibly more.

Wow crispy thats some damn harsh punishment.... Tell them immediatly Not such a big deal at all if you ask me, as long as you have the money to pay them back.....

All of us grew up in different households with different rules. If I had done something like that when I was a teenager, The punishment would most likely been physical. I swore to "break the cycle" I will not beat my kids, but I am strict.

HEy believe me my parents are pretty strict too but the point is as long as you can back up/pay back for what you did it shouldnt be a problem...[8D] Oh and I'm also thinking of getting a bike when I turn 18-19ish unless someone I know dies on one and turns me away from motorcycles lol. Probably a Yamaha YZF or Honda CBR 600 which are my favorites. I probably wont buy one though cause my parents will most likely refuse to pay insurance[:@]

You're absolutely correct! Get a bike & do something stupid! I know, 'cause I used to ride. A couple of my riding buddies, well, we will just leave it at that! Yes, they had been riding for years!!!

Jarett coming from a mom... yes a mom I am very new in RC world and loving it. I have 2 boys one just a few years younger than you, I try hard to teach my boys to tell me the truth no matter what they have done wrong. We all make mistakes even as adults. May something some of us need to remember. You knew you did something wrong and did the right things to fix it. besides parents are parents we are not always right either but we love our kids no matter what they do... And thanks for the tip never give the kids the paypal password just giving you are hard time.

I get in trouble for doing what you did all the time but im 32 and married so its my wife that punishes me!!!!!!! And thats a million times worse!!! Trust me! Just be careful with the EBay situation , its very addictive. Just don't do it with your parents card again because if you didn't take there trust in you this time eventually you will and its just not worth it! I'm a parent too and i would have had a fit if my kids did that only because they don't know how much money is in the account, and bouncing checks is costly!!! Just ask next time and if they give you crap tell them its your money and at least your not buying CRACK!!!! EHEHEHEHEH

Have one of your female friends make you up to look like a stereotypical addict and say "see mom, I'm not doing RC anymore". LOL
