Sport pilots are sissys!!!
They are affraid that is they show up at an event with their little .40 plane you guys
with your big gasser scale type planes will look down on them...
Little do they know,, and this is especially true at your event,, that all they have to
do is show up,, fly,, and have a blast....

Nice-lookin' Duellist!

My buddy Rich has an 88 still in the box. It looks nice, even there. What are ya puttin' in it? .50's? .70's?

RE: 2008 Ames Multi-Engine Meet
Hi Kram,
I received the dvd of last years event, great job on the dvd. You guys had some fun. I've watched it every nite since I received it and probally will watch it again tonite. I'm making plans on attending this year, will bring friends. I'm bashing a Kadet Senior into a Areo Commander. Their is a thread in the multi-engin forum by heli-rod, who built one from a senior kit. He did a nice job but I never heard if it flew or not. I'm going to find out this summer. If it works I'll bring it along.
Thanks again
Bill

Mark, here we just got another 12" of that beautiful white stuff and I'm dreaming of the Ames event. Here's a couple of pics of one of the two that I'll be bringing. Seeing how the sport flying thing was being mentioned I thought this one would fit. Jim

Thanks Mark, that's an old Bradford kit, and was the larger 97" version of two that were available. I think they went to be called Texas Twins later on. It's the Giant Bob Cat Twin, a twin engine trainer. On a recent re-build I designed the nacells and cowls as the original versions were just a tank box, nothin' fancy, but did the job. The graphics are of our daughter-in-law's medical practice down in Louisville, Ky. It's a fun plane to fly, and has excellent one engine flight performance. It was pink, white and light blue colors for the original version. I know, wimpy, but it was for the grandkids.

Mark,
Fashion tips for the plane, owner, or hat? The white hat definitely is much cooler in that hot sun, good thinking there on the pilot's choice of headwear. Green, ahhh, that wonderful color. Hmm, maybe a green, camo ,cowboy hat (is there such a thing?) with a nice neon green hat band, or better yet, a feather, but make it a small feather, similar to the white hat application. Matching camo footwear would be nice but not necessary. See what this[:@][:@]snow does to me.

Mark,
Here's the other plane I plan on bringing to the Ame's meet. I want to bring both the Bobcat and the 310,but my wagon is just so big.[:@] Allen says he'll haul one in his trailer for me. Which one should I trust him with? That was kinda nasty after he was generous and offered me the assistance. I could maybe strap the Bobcat wing on the top carrier, it looks like a surfboard anyway.[8D] Jim

Nah, the plane speaks for itself.
I do like the green accent idea for the hat, though.
We'd better start talking about airplanes, or Robby will kick us off our own thread!
This picture of the B-25 I flew at last year's event, so expertly modified to Pacific theater colors by Dave Sult, may appear as the "Snapshot" feature in the May edition of Fly RC, thanks to the skills of our event photogs, Lloyd and Starla Swanson. Why they chose it over all the better groomed (and flown) planes there, I don't know. Maybe the exquisite shutter timing of the bomb drop.

Oh Yeah!
I would definitely carry that 310 INSIDE the vehicle.
What yer missing, of course, is a trailer, which has two main purposes:
1) Certify you as a twin nut, and
2) Drop your gas mileage about 8 mpg
A trailer also provides you with a lot of space for hauling scrap balsa, as shown here after the 2004 Multi meet, site of the first and last time I ever tried to stretch a 12-minute P-38 gas tank to 13 minutes.

Robby,
No, I built that Nosen about 19 years ago. I do have another Nosen 310 up overhead in the garage (built up & rough) that I bought from a local friend. I wanted it mainly for the Robart nose gear that it had installed in it. I might reserect it someday and convert it to a military version like one of Allen's.
It does fit nicely in the wagon, but leaves little room for other necessities, maybe I should design some sort of rack out of PVC to hang the Bobcat on, hmmm, got some ideas already.
Mark,
I suppose you're right, pilot accessories are a little off the main topic . Wow, I can't wait to get myself a trailer!!!! Nah, why stop at a trailer, I'm going all the way to a box van truck, the semi would be too hard to park.[:@]

Not Bragging (well maybe jest a little!)
The SNAPSHOT page of Fly RC magazine features this photo of B-25 that Dave Sult built, I flew and Starla Swanson photographed at the 2007 Ames Multi-Fly. Not to be modest, but there were an awful lot of pretty planes there. Not sure why they picked this one. Maybe the photog's sublime timing of the bomb drop?
See ya there Sept. 6!
Thanks,
