I'm a little late, but wanted to add that in the long run it doesn't matter what someone gets (rtr or kit) Things break and one way or another you are going to have to take apart and put back together any R/C you buy.

My first plane was a Falcon 56 in 1972.......
over the years I bought some already built planes at swap meets......
I learned more from these planes than the ones I painstakingly built.
Why? Because all I had in them was a little money, no blood sweat and tears...
This allowed me to fly them in a manner to "Push the envelope" of the plane and my own skills.

I didnt care if I Flintstone flopped it....... or Yard Darted it... or planted it.....
The most fun was tweaking the plane to fly better than the original owner had it flying... then all his buddies giving him }{ell cuz it didnt fly that good when he owned it.

Same deal with ARF's or RTR's. For me tho, I would do something simple to make mine standout from every other one out of the box.
Have fun!

I feel old when younger people ask me where I got most of my MP3 music and I tell them "Napster" and they reply "WHO?"

If you don't have 6 hours total to set aside to build an RC car, how do you have the time to RUN them?

I simply take those 6 hours and drive?? I may run my trucks 6 hours in a month?? I wish I had more time, I just don't.

My original comment was that just b/c you don't build kits does not mean that you don't want to learn. You don't build the car you drive(well some people do), but when it breaks down you fix it.
