Leave the 2 on the low, rich on the low might save your engine if you ever loose water. (20:1 fuel mix) play with the high for wideout throttle, use a tach or GPS as sound is not enough. In my experience lean sounded faster but slightly rich was really faster by GPS.

Plug coloring is read on the ceramic surrounding the centerelectrode. It is best to read them after a new one has been installed and run flat out for several minutes and driven back in hard with no idleing. If you are already running good the most you would want to turn a adjustment screw is about 1/16 maybe to 1/8 turn other wise it is just going to be too lean or too fat. 1/2 turn would surely put you well out of the ballpark and you will have to start all over. It isn't just that your final mix is correct either. First you have to zero in on the exact low to high needle ratio your engine likes for the best low end and transition.

The harder you push the harder it is going tpo fight you sliding it through. As you push it is also shoving the insert into the taper of the collet so even a 10 pound sledge wouldn't push it through. Never bang or yank on the cable for any reason. I hate shaft savers but thta is a option to possibly retain the shaft in these cases. My opinion is they ruin the cable. Nothing shoiuld be clamped on the hard spring steel windings in my book. ????And especially not a setscrew type collar. One nick and it will fatigue and the winding will break.

RE: need help on a zen G260PUM
thx daniel,
that's some food for thought you gave me...................... i was being a bit rough on the settings and what you said, cleared it out.
I will start all over again, this time with a slower pace.
as per the shaft it was split at the stinger .... nothing that could have damaged it.....about a couple of inches from the prop......no prop saver would have worked!!!!!
but i didn't expect the shaft to be that sensitive, i was hammering softly to get it in....guess i have to find another smooth way of donig things :-)
thanks again, i'm finding this forum thing very interesting!

zazza,
to answer your question regarding what spark plug to use,
use the NGK CMR7H, and stay away from Champion as they don't like water.

thanks guys.......<div>
</div><div>i already heard about the champion issues....but good to stress it out. I just use it to start the engine after flooding. It makes the job easy!!</div><div>
</div><div>Now that i lost my prop......;-)...................what do you suggest for my standard zen 26 cc . </div><div>
</div><div>the hull is a bit on the heavy, round 13kg without fuel..........(scarab 54")</div><div>i was running with a 3 blade brass 7015/3.........very slow on acceleration, but once it planes it rocks!!!</div><div>
</div><div>Is there a prop that is wise to start with??? I can understand that the you need to experiment, but what is considered as standard!!</div>

RE: need help on a zen G260PUM
I would start with a 7016/2
I find it a good all around prop on a Vee or Cat and stock or Mod Zen.
someone else may have a better choice or favorite.

7014-15-16/3 are good starting points.
If acceleration is not OK ... pull back your exhaust for 5 > 15mm.
If your exhaust is welded/fixed .. go 2 > 5mm lower on prop-diameter.
65 or 67-14-15-16/3
Ohhhhhhhhhhh ... and about loosing your prop ...
If your stinger can take 8x10 bearings , you could use the German-style 8mm propshafts ,
and drill/tap a security-bolt into the stinger.
Almost fool-proof :-)

2 or 3 blade depends on the set-up and your preference.
A 3 blade has always 1 blade in the water , some hulls will behave better that way.
I make/rebuild struts and stingers , examples are in my [link=http://www.powerboat-friends-freising.de/usergallery/thumbnails.php?album=1069&page=1]online album[/link].
