RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
There aren't any IMHO.....Zenoah is the best from over there, but it is Japanese, then OS 55 gas, but again, Japanese, Saito FG-36, but again, Japanese.....and DA from the USA. Otherwise, you get what you pay for Chinese junk. My DA's have more then 5 years and more then a few hundred flights.....no issues, no rebuilds.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
TruckRacer,
Mainly bearings, rods, and the sleeve to the prop hub was the newest failure. Almost all of us have been running different brands of oil and mixtures so we really can't say one is better then the other. Not really sure what the answer is. I will say we do run our engines hard, a lot of WOT.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
i can't bad mouth the DLE55's i have in the way they run,it runs circles around the DA50's that i have, but we are talking 5 more cc's.if the lower end in the 55's would last a little longer it would be a great engine.
it's hard to say if it's the needle bearings going out,or the crank pin isn't being case harden enough in the 55's.thats my only complaint with DLE55,they run smooth, dependable, great transition, good power.

Since it seems to be okay to compare a 55cc to a 50cc I'll raise you 5cc. Compare the DA60 to the DLE55, that is if the DLE is still running. A DA 60 will run circles around a DLE/DLA/SE 55 and do it for years and years.

And why are these comparisons even in this thread? This thread's title is about comparing Chinese engines to each other, not to engines produced in other countries. Geeeeeesh!!

There were several DA 60's came to the flying field when they were first introduced and there has not been a problem with any of them and closet guy flies at our field two or three times a year.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
The best Chinese engine right now is still DLE.
What engine you need depends on how you fly.
I have over 10 models and fly each one only a dozen times a year, at that rate a DLE will last me 15+ years.
If you hammer the hell out of 1 plane, at wot doing 3d day after day you need something like a 3w, you get what you pay for

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
i also have a DLA56,it has had it's share of problems too.new prop hub from a DLE55,the DLA was out of round, ignition had a high speed miss, new rcexl ignition.i think all of the china made engines have issues some where.
the new JC line of engines seem to be doing good no problems yet.
also SE engines seem to be doing well also, don't hear of any issues with them.i just wonder if both of these engines will have the same problems with the lower rod bearings or crank pin being to soft.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
A few years ago DA published the sources of their engine parts. The best you can say is that they are assembled in the USA. Not made in the USA. DA may have their parts made to better specs and better QC, but 80%+ were made outside the US. Quality control is the issue. Not what country the parts were made in. I'm with 3136. I rotate planes so my engines should last a lot longer. Not much WOT.

The first is that you can always use a little more power. And the second is that there's a DLE engine to deliver it.

The first is that you can always use a little more power. And the second is that there's a DLE engine to deliver it.
The DLE-55 generates 2.2-4.4 pounds of static thrust than the original DLE-50 and gives you a Walbro® pumper carb to make the most of it.
That means you'll have the throttle response you need at any time and attitude…and the power you need to nail any maneuver you want to fly.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
The title of this thread is best Chinese engine, Its not about the DA or any other engine outside of Chinese engines available, which is best. It amazes me how some people are constantly trying ram their choice of engine down everyone's throat, fly what you want and if you are satisfied with it who am I to tell you otherwise. As far as Chinese engines the DLE as of today is the best available from china. Am I saying its the best engine available, thats a matter of opinion, but thats not the question here.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
Whats the question here, the best engine available from china today, so what all this other off topic stuff doing here? This is not a thread about which engine is best or whatever, it is about which engine coming from china is best, that is without question the DLE as of today, this not opinion but is based of sales, it is one most widely used chinese engines used out there today. Is it the best engine available that's up to opinion and like my Dad said one time everyone has one based on their experience or loyalty to a particular brand and you can argue until the cows come home no one will change their minds.

RE: BEST 50cc CHINA ENGINE RIGHT NOW??
Years ago when I was a kid working in a auto parts store with an engine machine shop in the back, I was told by one of the best machinist (in our area) that the worst thing you could do to any gasoline engine is "burping" the throttle. That constant jolting of RPM from low to high is what beats rod bearing to a pulp. In our hobby, I would suppose the guys that hover alot would have the most bearing wear. The next on my list would be the Harley guys who constantly are burping the throttle for affect.........I guess. I am a new DLE owner but will probably never make it to the hover level of flying. Just my thoughts...........
