I have seen all sorts of starting tubes on legs or on stands but all you really need is a piece of flat
metal bent at 90 degrees which sits on the ground like a tent up against the model's tail pipe.
It also takes up very little room to transport as it can sit on it's edge in a corner of your vehicle.

Exactly like that.
I started with a piece of thin galvinised steel sheet 300 mm x 600 mm & bent it in half.at 90 degrees.
Make it long enough to suit your needs.
Suits my twin boom jet with a high tail, I have pushed it flatter to suit a friend's model.
In your case you could put two folds in it with a flat top section perhaps 100 mm wide?
The metal is quite thin, I just clamped a piece of wood across it & bent it by hand.
