John,
Congratulations ! Looks great , wish you the best of luck with it. I wonder if it will fit in an Xterra ? Maybe they will make one in 6 pieces.

Thanks guys, it is great how prebuilt it comes out of the box, even the vents are screwed in place!! Also, the fuse cover it comes with can be used after assembly, its setup to fi the rudder, go around the gear, stabs and wings. Very nice:thumbup:

Hmm, might be a hard fit in an xterry.. That box that doesnt fit in the bed of my truck is the fuse with no rudder or cowl ring on! You really have to see one of these in person to really get the perspective!

taxman232ex,

Actually, SpaceShipOne is heavy and that has been the biggest challenge. The FAA's ungodly heavy transponder system they made us install for our launch licence did not help matters either.

Darrin,

I have to say that I have been trying to follow the SPACE RACE, but the discussion needs to be left in the full scale forum.... Thanks

lol @ Darcy..theres still room to upgrade...think Multiplex,lol...the 9Z programming is leased from MPX, and is 80's technology...

I just got a Multiplex profi 4000...best radio on the planet...no room for me to grow (except a 3.3 yak,lol..)

CAPtain232,

Scary lite should be the norm.

The 3.3m Yak is as close as it comes.
Darrin, keep in mind, there are still a huge amount of modelers out there, who WANTS a heavy plane, because they fly in windy conditions, and they don't want the Composite-ARF, because they've heard how fragile they are, and they talk like they want a crash survivable plane. Well, they are the kind of people that I really just can't argue with, but there are many of them.

Hey John, nice plane! You mentioned you weren't sure whether you wanted to run pipes or cans. I'd would 100% recommend using the DA-150 on full lenth tuned pipes, the longest ones that KS makes from DA. I have flown a Yak with that setup and a 32x10 2-blade and the power is great! There's shouldn't be a question as to which you should use, the pipes give you 200-300 rpm and the power curve is really good. Hope this helps.

DKjens,

I've had both my 35% Extras go in , one was 30lb the other was 19lb. They where the exact same plane, the lite one flew incredible and was a joy to fly in any wind, the heavy one was miserable in every aspect.

When they went in they where both complete losses, so I'll stick to my lite planes.

Vicster,

Was your balance issue due to the long pipes? How far back did your CG end up being? In the 3D range or way back?

The Yak 3.3M is $3,500 + shipping, which is another 100 or more. I know the 2.6M planes cost roughly $100 depending where you live in the country.

Hello Guys

Lighter airframes are better all around, windy or calm. There is a short video of my 3.3m Yak flying, in 30 mph+ winds on www.composite-arf-world.com

Thanks for the info Kelley, I have heard up to 500rpm increase.. Since this plane comes ready for the pipes, I may as well.. I just hate having a plane that quiet
