Default RE: Zenoah G-26 Setup tips

Let me ask you guys what ratio of fuel/oil are you using.
I have Amisol oil and have been 32/1. Is that good?
Also are any of you guys running a NGK plug instead of the one it comes with? If so what plug are you using
What RPM range are you running when at Idle? for some reason I can't get mine lower than 2200 rpm otherwise it wants to stall. I have the engine in a 1/4 Cub and the first time I took it up flew fine but when I was coming in for a landing the engine stalled. Good thing I was lined up already.
Please let me know what I could do to idle this engine better.
Any help I would really appretaite it alot.

Thanks

Knowing if the engine is new and how much fuel has been run through it would help.

Hopefully someone can help me here!

I have a new G-26 out of the box. It is getting fuel and has spark, it will only run at idle when the choke is on and will not transition at all. When you try to transition the engine it dies. Once in awhile I can get the engine to fire at a higher RMP and it will run for a little bit with the choke off but transitioning it will cause it to quit. I have tried 1-3/8 to 1.5 openeings for each of the needle valves. I just can not make it run consistantly.

Words of wisdom?

Thanks

Lots of others on here more knowledgeable than me, but if it were my engine, I'd open both needles two complete turns out and try cranking. Adjust from there. Also, check all your plumbing to make sure tank, clunk, lines are all set up right w/o air leaks or clogged vent, etc.

Worth a try.

look into the throat of the carb. when throttle plate is closed you should see the bottom of the screw that holds the plate on

On my last G26 the carb gasket for the pulse hole was backwards and covered up the pulse hole. Won't run like that... Grrr. Great motor other wise. Brian

All the holes were open and I even sealed the gaskets with rtv to see if there was some kind of air leak to no avail. I tried all settings of the needle valves and dismantled the carburater to make every thing was ok. Rechecked the fuel system and even tried another tank.

Took it to the LHS they played with it for about an hour and could not make it run and then when I returned to pick it up tried for about another hour.

I finally called Horizon tech support and they wanted the engine back so it was shipped UPS yesturday.

I have never seen a Zenoah that would not run great out of the box.

Thanks for the responses!

They'll fix you up no doubt. Good luck with your motor. I like my G26s. Brian

Ralph,

My converted G-26 didn't come with a thinner block and I have been having problems with it dead sticking. I have tried all kinds of needle settings with no luck. Could you send me a new block and the vent fitting?

Hey guys. I am new to the gas world and am in the process of installing my first g-26. This forum has proven to be immensely helpful. I was wondering what all of those extra pieces were doing in the kit.

I am installing my g-26 in a Bals a USA 1/4 scale Sopwith Pup, and I'm wondering if that supplied air vent thing is necessary.

Thank you,

Jean-marc

More than likely that what you are referring to as the "air vent thing" is the plastic velocity stack that bolts to the carb. Using it is all a matter of choice, as some do and some don't.

It is supposed to smooth out the air flow to the engine and help to lessen the possibility of blowback from the carb. I've tried one and found it made no noticable difference to the engine's performance so I took it off.
