RE: 97" Extra 300 Special
I think a 5955 would be excellent as a single rudder servo. I'm currently using two 6985s which is roughly equivalent.
Now, as to Karbonite gears. I am using them on rudder and elevators without problems. I had them on the ailerons and after about 15 flights the outer servos on both wings gave up their gears. I suppose it was because of vibration.
That is my experience. Some people say they are using them all around without problems, but I support only the use of metal gear servos.

Tom,
Thanks for finally coming up with a symmetrical color scheme for the new 33% Extra. I think it's really attractive. I have often been tempted to buy one of the 28% planes and recover one wing/stab to match the other. Will the new 33% be canister friendly? Would the DA 100 be just ridiculous overkill, or would it be okay? How about showing us a pic of the blue/yellow symmetrical 33% color scheme. Yellow is so much easier to see than red. Of course the yellow, white and black (yellow replacing the red) would look great, too.

Hey Tom:
How 'bout producing a 35% Extra 260 or 300 for IMAC?
Raising the wing to mid wing or shoulder wing?
More clearance for cans or pipes, and maybe less rudder coupling to elevator.

Installing canisters should be easy, just move the gas tank. We made the area between the motor box sides real wide for this reason.
Why 33% instead of 35%? Because the bigger the plane the smaller the choice of engines and shipping/transport methods.
Our 35% needs a 100cc twin, a good one, that's about $1300 with mufflers. The 33% plane, about 5 pounds lighter, flies well on a 3w75 that costs $700 with the muffler. For guys flying at altitude, the 35% plane is just too much for a 100 while the slightly smaller 33% will do great on a DA-100 even at 5000 feet. So it's just a better size that's more useful to more people. You're only giving up 3" per wing panel.
The other issue is shipping. The 33% plane will ship easily by UPS without oversize charges. The 35% must go by Forward Air or bus or UPS charges about $50 penalty. And then there's hauling it to the field. The 33% plane will fit in a Toyota 4 runner (we did it). The 35% is just a whole lot bigger.
The 35% is neat but it's just a whole lot of effort and results in less happy customers. By going just a hair smaller we've solved so many problems it's really a big step forward.
I guarantee this 33% Extra 260 will put a smile on the face of anybody who flies it.

Hey Tom:
Nothing wrong with the 33% Extra that you're coming out with.
I have the 35% Extra, but I was suggesting that perhaps you could have a modified fuse (version B) of the 35% Extra with a higher wing placement. Perhaps a small run?
this would be in addition to the 33% Extra for us folks that like the BIG plane.

I'd have to say that it depends on what you think "good" is. It won't be a vertical rocket, but would probably fly IMAC OK. With a DA-100 or a BME 110 now, that would be a plane for high altitude flight.

All that I can do easily is chance the colors of the covering, and that is limited to the colors we use all thetime. If you need an odd color you'd need to provide the covering, pay to have it shipped to Thailand, then wait for the finished plane to come back.
Custom schemes are not available, sorry, it's a factory.
