Default RE: Tornado

Most hobby shops I visit are more then glad to assist to determine a problem if you do not have the resources to do so. IE have another RX around to test the ESC. I've not yet once found a hobby shop that would charge me to plug in a RX to determine whether the ESC or the motor was bad. You could have easily have gone home and told me it was the motor and we would have shipped one to you at no charge.

You did not give us this opportunity to service you and now you hold it against us. I'm sorry, but the only thing we will do is GLADLY send you a new motor at no charge if you want one. If you decide not too I consider the matter closed.

Thank you.

Great Helicopter OMP, we have it here and it is great, also 170$ is good price compare to what we pay here.
keep on bringing good stuff...

And for you Mr. Snoopy, please try to understand the company side, no one tried to harm you
and send you defective products, thats **** happen, and the smart thing is to find the best way
to handle that ****.
Stop shooting everywhere and foucus on the problem, the fact that you found something similar
and cheaper doesn't mean OMP screw you like you are saying,
so be come and try to be more nice, otherwise you will be ignored !!

good day

We've been flying ours on a 3 cell 710 mAh lipo pack a lot recently and wow is that sweet. Already burned up one motor although we've put a LOT of time on it over the past month. It is very common for the can motors to wear out after many hours of use. That's why GWS and all the others sell replacement motors. It's just a 300 size can motor. We replace with a spare we had laying around and back in the air. My son Forrest is flying the Tornado pretty much everyday before school now either in the driveway or garage.

Snoop I dont know what you are up in arms for [&o] So you got a bad motor (bleep)happens pal!!!!! STL gave you two offers to send a motor are a whole new chopper and you decided to go to the hobby store you made your choice so dont chew butt on STL. Here is a little story for ya. I bought a brand new 750 honda had the bike 2 days and it started running crappy. I checked the coils and one was bad. I took it off the bike took it back to the dealer and they handed me a new coil. Moral of the story is these are machines whether they are toy choppers or motorcycles. Bad parts get past quality control and make it to the buyer[:'(] I have not seen a better deal out there for buying a heli to start on and so you have to replace a motor once and a while no biggy. Good thing you dont own a real chopper if you are complaining about a 13 dollar part and I dont know of to many choppers out there big or small that dont use parts its a machine!!!!!! Well with that said I bought 2 today at 139 dollars. 1 for my son and 1 for me. and STL you are rite on with all you said.

Excuse me for asking please, but why do you ask? They are made by either the factory or a strategic alliance partner of theirs in China. Much like the internal parts of a Dell computer are made by about 100 different vendors.

STL I was just wondering It looked like a cheap futaba and my futaba charger works with it. On a sad note [&o]I do not make a good chopper pilot I have broken a blade and Only had the heli 2 days I'm going to wait till after the holidays to order more blades. My son is 21 and he's been wanting to get into helis so hes getting one for x-mas and I'm sure hes going to need some blades I think I'm going to stick to planes I have no problem flying them so I'm giving my chopper to my brother he's been wanting to try it to so heres his chance he also flys planes. He talks smart that he can fly anything well I'm going to pull up a chair get a beer and watch him struggle with this[sm=lol.gif] this will be good!!!!!!! Lure

There are a lot of generic radios coming from china manufactures that have used Futaba or JR style cases. Probably just buying the plastic molded cases or reproducing them. If you look at almost all the electric stuff or even sim boxes out there they look either like old Futaba or JR style cases. They are all generic though like the GWS, E-flite, etc.

By the way Forrest and I went to a local indoor meet last night and flew our Tornado for almost 4 hours. Only had to make one small repair on the spot but the rest was pure joy. Once trimmed, this tiny micro was so steady we could take our hands off the sticks. We are at teh point now where we can fly circles and figure eights. Key is don't let the forward spped get too high! It can get away from you really quick! We still have much to learn though.

Salmon I'm going to keep trying. I need to buy about hundred blades LOL How long do you get on that lipo battery? See I do not know much about electric this is my first model thats electric. I do not even have a plane that is electric so its all new to me. Give me an engine and I can work wonders with it but electric motors and ecs and bats [] I need to learn the basics first I guess and I do not like the fact that elec in most cases you only get about 10 min flight time. It would be really cool to fly a heli hands off that would be fun. What about the quality of the radios with these ready to fly kits are they ok or do they have problems to. I have 2 radios now both futaba one is a cheap 4 channel and the other is a cap 7 its a nice radio. If the heli thing does not work out I'll use the radio out of the heli for a park flyer or 2 Latter Lure

well I think it has to do with the pilot not the heli I was hovering in the kitchen and it drifted to the cupboards and I just chopped the throttle. It landed real hard and with the down ward force the blade went snap. I should have been outside and I think this would not have happened. I am rookie with heli's I just got this one to try and see if I would like it or lol get use to it I think I'm going to stay with planes.

Lureman:

The tail motor was not my main problem with OMP and this heli. I know full well these things happen, more often than not with all electric micro heli stuff. Had my posts not been deleted or edited you would have been able to see what the problem was...

i thought thats why the blades came spring form? i almost bought one of these in addition to the XRB i just bought but i am really starting to turn away.. i mean unless those blades will be replaced free from the company since they are supposed to be so beginner friendly... i dont think they should be putting so much hype on the beginner thing if they are not going to take a beating like they say on their website! my .02c

What kind of wind will these helicopters take? Need something for winds 3-7 mph and something that flies pretty stable. I'm trying to deceide between this one and the Corona.... I know the Corona will take a little wind. I've got the Vectron UFO to fly indoors as I don't want to break any blades on the XRB types of Helicopters. The price of the Corona all decked out is upwards of 1,000 dollars but this one at 200$ might be just as fun. Also would the transmitter that comes with this model work with Reflex XTR?

It is possible we have some old parts laying in a box but I would suggest calling John at OMP next Tuesday and ask. He is on vacation for the next 4 days. We have not had this chopper for over a year.
