RE: Skymaster F-15c
During the Easter holidays, Morten and I flew our F-15's for the first time. I just know I'll have a lot of fun with this one. What a great plane. I flew mine in very windy conditions, but it was rock solid all the way.
Thanks to Al's Hobbies for supplying the kits and parts so quickly.
Here are a few picks.

What is the weight of this bird? Ready to fly or only the "fiberglass parts"? My experience is that the manufacturers don't take this seriously. But is really matters! Almost every time the promised flying weight is unreachable what ever gear you put in. This is also confirmed in the latest issue of Jet Power where the Skymaster Jas Gripen was put on the stand.
To me the all up weight is a factor when trying to decide what will be my next project.

Hello Ela.
Our F-15 weigh 13 kg wet. That is with 2,8 litres of fuel.
My Gripen weighs 9,5 kg. empty. The Gripen that Burkhard built has a larger engine and from what I can tell in the pictures,--- he uses large festo valves and 2x5-cell NI-CAD's. I think the ECU battery also is a 6-cell NI-CAD. The total weight of the airframe really depends on what equipment you use.

Thank you for your answer. It is still a long way down to 7,5-8,5 Kg for the Gripen and 8,5 Kg(19lbs) for the F-15... Your information has been useful.

Hi Stig, I am about to maiden my P120 powered - Sky Master F15 - I also have Flaps and ailerons I would be very interested in knowing the thrown for all surfaces up and down and how much elevator you had to use when using flaps if any?
What are your first impression of the F15, Take of length, landing speed etc?

Throws on the one we have here are as stated in the manuals. No need to use more than that.
The one here does not need any mixing when using the flaps, this jet is rock solid and flys very smoothly.
Takeoff runs can be very short and it climbs very nicely, the one here has an Artes Falcon 22lbs, for power. I would guess about 60 to 80 meters for takeoff.
Landings are very easy also, just keep some speed, the F-15 has a very high rate of descent if you get very slow. It will come nice and easy if you put the nose just a bit above horizon and use power to control the descent.
From my point of view one of the easiest jets I have flown.

I can only second what mdurand is saying about the F-15. Great flyer.[8D]
My flaps are on a 2 point switch and have 15 and 30 degrees throw. On ailerons I wouldn't go under 20 mm. But that is individual.
I'm experimenting a bit, so I started using 15 degrees flaps for landings and found the elevator throw to be to little for a smoth landing. The elevator servo is reduced to 80% movement in my TX, so I just mixed dal rates on the elevator and allocated the D/R to the same switch as uses for flaps. So 80% for normal flight and 100% for landings with flaps. I will try and move the CG a bit back and see what it does to the landings. I'll let you guys know what I find. But please be sure that the plane flies great on the factory settings. I just like to experiment a bit.[8D]

Hi there.
Kasper Holger (Carboncustoms) filmed the maiden flight of Mortens F-15 with me at the sticks.
