I had a friend that was an architect that bought the plot cutter/printer and made up a lot of decals for me with 3 mil vinyl and they are just fine. Here in my area we have a window tinter on every block and for a couple bucks you can take them your design and the covering and get things like the graphics on the side of the Mustang done for you. I don't know if they can do anything that will look like air brush work or not?? Never asked.

You can look at the date of these old posts before you reply. RCU has been rather stagnant for several years. THis thread is from 2003. I had to look it up to figure out what was going on. I think it was 2014 when I left RCU. I moved in 2015 and no longer build or fly. I will be moving again in the next year and I will be back to building and flying then. RCU is still a good place to locate a lot of info and I know I still have a lot of build threads posted.

I have had good experiences with Inkscape. It is a free vector graphics software. The software is fairly easy to use and the biggest benefit about vector graphics is the scalability.

I've used both laser and inkjet printers for water-based decals. Inkjet, however, requires a fixative and the one suggested by the hobby store destroys yellow ink. That's why I switched to laser. As far as software I prefer Photoshop but have a very old, licensed Photoshop CS. I have also used Inkscape and GIMP. GIMP has the same capabilities as Photoshop but, in my opinion, is hard to use. But it is free.

I also have struggled with GIMP, recently actually. Even though Krita is not specifically intended to be used like Photoshop or GIMP, I have managed to do some tasks with it that I have lost my patience with GIMP. Krita is a free painting software that includes many useful features.
