Do you glue those tires to the aluminum wheels?! Any tip on a clean looking glue job? I think I need to get a finner tip for my CA glue.. (for now, I don't care, those are buggy / truck tires.. so I just splash a bunch on.. do a good job.. )

The tires do not get glued to the aluminum rims. Tamiya suggests the plastic wheels be glued, but I chose not to here.

Here's some pics of the wheel assemblies. No quick wheel changes here!

The inner wheel is the plastic wheel from the kit. Once assembled you can't see the inner rim.

Do you glue those tires to the aluminum wheels?! Any tip on a clean looking glue job? I think I need to get a finner tip for my CA glue.. (for now, I don't care, those are buggy / truck tires.. so I just splash a bunch on.. do a good job.. )
I use 100% silicone(clear) instead of CA. No white residue and they are easier to remove when it comes time to change tires.

Yes, I posted some photos showing the front and rears.

You need 2 pair rear and one pair front.

I believe it will also have a gear reduction and slipper clutch.

Slower than the semi?! Wow!

Slipper clutch will not be good for the crawler crowd.. I am sure they will tighten that way up.. In terms of drivetrain weakness, those axles should be pretty strong (metal gears, similar to TLT..) so it will come down to whether the tranny can take the rock crawling torque...

I'm pretty sure the slipper was used to not damage the tranny as it is quite sloppy and any sudden jerks under a heavy load would certainly do some damage. The rigs are on-road only and don't go through much rigor, but I am sure the 350 would. Plus, the tires are quite large adding even more stress to the tranny.

Yeah, I read that... should be interesting.. hope they make some improvement on the tranny too.. with ballbearings and all, hopefully there's not that much slop!

Anyway, not trying to hijack your thread.. Time to go back to the semi!!

The MFU will work with Radios with digital trims as long as they can transmit PPM Signals. The MFU expects PPM
signals for servo and will have problems if you transmit PCM as most computer radios are capable of. Most of the
Futaba line (6EXAS for example) are PCM or PPM selectable and will work great with Tamiya MFU. There is additional
issues with the DX6 as the AR6000 receiver has the fail safe programmed at continous for planes/helis. You'll need
the BR6000 receiver which has failsafe set at hold. DX6 also can't shut down MFU via the transmitter, you'll have to
get a kill switch rigged to one of the spare channels on Ch5 or 6.

The problem with digital trim, though, is that you will need to hold the trim for awhile, instead of sliding the analog slider up and down quickly for the desired function...

But maybe it is okay, just a little bit inconvenient..

I never used a MFU before, so I don't pretend to be an expert.. got to wait until I try it out..

Meh, digital trims offer so much more! You wont change them as much as analog, remember, so quick adjustments arent as neccessary.

I am all for using the latest technology, but I am talking about using the trim to control the MFU here.. not regular adjustment.. no dbout, for normal adjustment, I'd prefer digital trim... if anyone has used a computerized computer with digital trim with the Tamiya MFU, I'd love to hear from them..

A general reply to those involved in the radio discussion.

The trims are used only to switch functions, they are either max right/left/up/down or neutral. The only trim not used for a function is the steering trim.

The trim is moved from neutral to it's max, the coresponding stick is moved in that same direction to activate that mode. The trim is then moved back to the neutral. The process is used again to de-activate that same mode.

I tried using a different radio and it didn't work right so i pulled it and bought the 4VWD. I had the same idea you did.

Incidentally, Tamiya recommends no other radios be used for these kits.[&o]

I just don't like the fact that it can't do EPA and does not do multi-model memory.. (so you can run the semi, the F-350, etc. on the same radio..!)
