RE: REVO 3.3 or SAVAGE X need quick response
I own all kinds of RCs, including a Savage X and 2 Revos.
My experience tells me that the Savage X is a great basher. I also had one of the Savage RTRs and it was great. They are just down-right tough. The only time I had issues were with some broken parts after a particularly bad crash....
I'v not bashed my Revos. They are both race trucks. Racing is much easier IMO on the Nitro RCs.

RE: REVO 3.3 or SAVAGE X need quick response
This is my first and probably only post in the Traxxas forum, but here goes...
A Revo is like a truggy. They were made for guys who can't handle a real MT...but still want big tires. They are very over-hyped. They do a good job getting around the track in stock form and they are probably the best at it... in stock form. If you guys aren't spending as much on your "racing" Revos as the LST and Savage guys.... well, then you probably aren't doing much racing, or your running against trucks that shouldn't even be on the track.
I've not only run against them, I've been heavily involved in the buildup of one too, so I'm not just talking here. It's a good truck... just not as good as some people make it out to be. This whole new idea that it's somehow as durable as a Savage is just crazy talk. People see a few well setup (and heavily edited) pics and vids spread across the internet by a few fanboys and suddenly the truck is the strongest thing on the market. Complete BS.
Both of those trucks would make a nice choice. It's going to respond to your input. Driving, wrenching, setup... it's all on your shoulders. Tale care of either one, and it will take care of you.

"...They were made for guys who can't handle a real MT...but still want big tires...."
WHAT!?! Thats the most absurd line I've ever read. It makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.
"Real MTs" are about bashing. Bashing is driving where ever and when ever. Losi's LST is a very capable racer as is the Revo. I think if anything the LST and Revo type MTs are made for people who are primarily "Bash" and are looking to do "some" racing.
The Savage while it can be made into a serious racer is not geared towards racing....
So, clarify your line above. It makes no sense.....

RE: REVO 3.3 or SAVAGE X need quick response
This is the hardest desion to make . If the savage X is truly for bashing and doin crazy jump i might have to think about it but the only proble with the savage is its a roto starter and i have never tried it before to use also i need to buy a glow plug ingitor but that isnt a big deal biggest deal is the roto starter and that is it harder then the easy starter 2... For the revo u guys say that it will break more easly then savage but then again the revo can turn easyly and has better eletronics and has the easy starter 2 which i have a t-maxx useing the same one so its more convinent to carry one starter instead of a easy starter, glow plug ingnitor, and a rotostarter.
You guys are MAking me CRAZY [:@] If the SAVAGE is true that it is really hard to break i am think about it more but is the eletronics good cause i dont hear any thing good about it.. Also is it easy to go backwards and turn and do wheelies???

My first RC was my Savage 25 - now about 3 gallons through and nearly a year old. Took it out today after like three months, not sure it would even start, as I didn't really take care of it last time or two out(after-run oil was all..) The Rotostart is still going strong, even MINE - on the technical side I'm still very newbish, though I've listened to what I read on the forums and have never tried to force it when the engine's flooded.. If anything a Rotostarter is easier than a pullstart..
Here's the only pic my girlfriend got today on my cellphone(the rest were on a disposable.. - Scanned pics coming soon - was a great day!!) Anyway, I was hitting this sloppy, uneven, ten foot high hill at WOT, 30 meters or so into second gear, and basically just seeing what happened.. Based on what it's been through so far I can say with no reservations that I feel jolly comfortable hitting an uneven, 10-foot high hill at WOT and seeing how it turns out in the air when it gets there.. For the most part it went well, though I did get mixed up on throttle correction a time or two(was also driving my HB Lightning GT, which because of much bigger tires is totally different in the air..), landing upside down HARD a few times, and ended up doing the inevitable 25-yard cartwheel a couple times too.. Point is, my Savage is bone stock, and NOTHING has ever broken(unless you count a one-way bearing after the two gallon mark, most likely as a result of running too rich..) I love the thing - and IT is why I'm addicted to RC. I'm sure there are Revo guys out there who feel the same way, so get a Revo if you want it - I just had fun today and wanted to tell about it..:

RE: REVO 3.3 or SAVAGE X need quick response
Well iv been doin that with my t-maxx :P Well i guess i just might wait till next summer since im goin to boarding school ... the only reason i wanted the revo cause it was cheap because a brand new one cost 700 in my LHS and the one thats used is 400 that pretty much new.

Cool, but very expensive*. Now you know.
*not only the truck itself, but the few upgrades you need more or less right away to make it tough enough for even medium bashing.. Here in Germany it would take like €750 to get a new one(with RPM arms, new engine brace, roll bar - and for me anyway the definited necessity of replacing that hideous stock body..) up and running that most say STILL wouldn't be as tough as a Savage.. Faster, bigger, better-handling and all that, yes.. But tougher(or even AS tough..), no..

RE: REVO 3.3 or SAVAGE X need quick response
Revo is great for racing; but like everyone says, The Revo is not as durable as a Savage. The Revo is light and its design is geard for jumps on the race tracks and for fast runs. If you go Revo, I suggest you get the 3.3 version. It's basically a small block with near big block power and still remains light and agile fr the race track.
The Savage on the other hand is built for backyard bashing and not so much racing. The Savage X can be upgraded into a racer, but it does take $$$. If you go Savage and you have the time to wait (as well as a radio, receiver, and servos on hand), then I suggest you get the Savage X SS kit that will come out in a couple of months.
As far as obtaining the best of durability and racing, I'm afraid that is not possible with the current stock trucks. If that is your ultimate goal, I suggest you wait for and buy the Savage X SS kit and upgrade it to make it race ready. By choosing carfully and doing a fair amount of research on Savage aftermarket parts, you can build a tough-as-nails tank that is also lighter, faster, and more agile than the stock form.
