I was looking at the TF Cessna 310 as well as another in this post and like him, this plane is worth the wait. Plus it looks and seems to fly very well. I will admin this would be my first twin, but what a great one to start off with! Any idea if a Saito 170 radial or larger would fit in the nacells?

Nemesis4u was wondering if you could post a drawing of the firewall and also of the cowl? I am courious what engine options I have. Would prefer to go Gas but need to see what I would able to fit in.

Thanks, Randy

Warks62 et al.....

This is the only hands on info I have...

The distance from prop driver to fire wall is 170mm with a possible another 10mm if needed, the cowl diameter is 190 at its widest part.

More to come at a later time... stay tuned...

Just put my Tigercat on order via the LHS, I am really looking forward to putting this together and flying it. It was a hard call to decide on the TF 310 or this, but the Warbird fanatic in me won out! I have been looking at a number of power options for this airframe, one is the Zenoah 20ei gassers, next is the Revolution gas series and lastly with a couple of twin Saito 100Ts or mabye even a couple of Saito 90R or 170R's. Anyone else been thinking along these lines? I know in the video and from talking with KMP the prototype flew with RCS 91's, not a bad choice either...

I bought one of the first P-38's from Andrew when he was first starting up and his customer service was excellent. I could see that he probably has more on his plate now that his company has grown and might be harder to reach but I still have to belive that when he is reached he will do you right, he did me....

nemesys4u I went out on the link to Bomber field there in Houston/Sealy, brings back some memories. I use to live in Cypress a while back. It looks a little like the NW Houston club site which is not far off 290 either. We have some nice fields here in Virginia but nothing like the big ones there in the Houston and North Texas area...man I miss that place. sorry for the off topic.

Hi recently bought the KMP Tigercat through: www.chief aircraft.com I plan on using 2 x OS 1.20 four stokes with a 3 blade 14x7. Does anyone know if that would be a good combanation for the 88" WS Tigercat?

That set up should make the plane fly great. I am going to use the zenoha G20 gas with the same props.
Did you get the plane yet or just pre order ?

I am leaning toward going with the Zenoah 20ei's as well, however when I hear one running, it really had a chainsaw sound more than other I have heard. Of course it is not the sound but the performance that really matters. I just want to use the powerplant that will have the least chance of failure.

Here are a couple of ideas I have with this plane. First is to use a FEMA on-board starter, [link]http://www.hobby-lobby.com/fema.htm[/link]very cool I had one on my 27% Ultimate Pitts and it worked real well on a Saito 1.80. They will also work on small gassers too. Second, use a Solo adjustable prob. I have one planed for my 25% Stearman. [link]http://www.soloprops.com/Default.htm[/link]

I have looked for the approx weight of this plane, is it going to be in the 17-20 lbs range?

I use the G20's in my KMP B25 they do not have that sound like a four stroke but when both are in sync with the 14inch three blades or bigger it does sound pretty nice ( better than one running ) , anyway I agree they are far more dependable than glow, cheaper fuel, no fuel mess etc. Price is pretty good when I ordered the pair Dons Hobby shop $295.00 each.

That remote starter sure looks nice I seen it for the G26 on the web you provided do you know if they make it for the G20 ?

No, I haven't received the Tigercat yet. ChiefAircraft said that I should get it by the middle of this month, can't wait. Thanks for the info about the engine/prop combo. Not really sure what the best setup to use but I already had one O.S. 1.20 engine. It was cheaper to buy one more engine than two new engines of a different type.

Thanks again,

Sabrejet

Well, went to the LHS today and looked at the following: G20ei, Revolution 26, G26, RCV91CD, no radials there to look at nor twins. The G20ei is a very light and durable engine. The Revolution 26 looks good, but the reports I had from the LHS was clients have had a lot of problems (didn't go into what they are) G26 has the magneto no ei RCV91CD good potential reliablity issues have been had.

So since I can't see the radials and if reliability is the key, then I will probably go with the G20ei's. Plus less clean up now thats novel! The only issue with G20ei is when the batt goes so does the engine, the G26 does not. Shoot and I thoght my mind was made up...

I always run redundant battery set ups in all of my twins and big singles, dual ignition ( each ) dual recv battery etc. I also run max products miracle switches this way I never have to worry about a battery or switch going out.

In my KMP B25 I run two JR 1200mah per engine for redundant reasons, if you use one battery for the ignition I would use at least 2100mah or higher. The two 1200mah batteries per engine give me no less than 45min of flight time but I often re charge or re-peak all of my batteries after a couple of flights anyway.

During breakin with the G20 I have ran it up to 20 min on a 1100mah and still had good voltage left.

n9331v, thanks for the details on the G20 and the switch, I had not seen that yet, but you can bet I'll be using it. On the new discussion will any one here be using the new Spektrum 7 series radio to remove the chance of hits at the field? I am considering it, just hate not to use my 9CA.

I ordered one of these direct from KMP right after Toledo last Spring. It's supposed to be from the first batch.
I got a note from KMP a couple of weeks ago telling me the planes would probably arrive around the first of March.
I haven't decided on engines yet either, but I'm leaning towards the Zenoah 20ei's or 3W 26's

I have installed the spectrum 7 in my b25 due to ignition interference seems to be working great in all my other gas planes like my P47 DC3 P51 and 37% BME Ultimate with the BME 115 I use PCM with a glitch buster otherwise I will have lock outs, I lost a P47 due to this reason, I will soon be changing everything over to the spectrum.

The only problem with the Spectrum 7 is it only has 7 channels, On my KMP B25 I use the 7 for all flight control including the aux2 for the second engine instead of a Y, works great for shuting down in flight ( some of us like to do that ) and it works great for engine run up, for the bomb drop, doors and the smoke system I use a Futaba pcm second radio. I will do away with the second radio once or if spectrum comes out with the 9.

One other thing about the Spectrum is that it does not have Expo for the throttle so you need to fine tune the throttle linkage to make up for this.

I've orderd a F7F myself . I'll make the second order. It will be powered by twin SPE26 gassers. I exspect this machine to outshine my KMP P-61 w/twin OS 91 FX's. A tough act to follow if I might say so myself The F7F with the 26's should really cook
I also have a Spectrum DX7 in my little nitro-planes Bobcat. It works fantastic! Rock solid, instant command and no board or pins. Although I still feel a little apprehensive turning on without a card and pin. Oh well I'll just have to get used to it

As yet I don't plan on any mods except for nose art and trim but then again didn' they have a bomb bay? HMMM!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is an interesting post from Downunder, even list the length of the Tigercat, however it is branded ESM not KMP.
