Guys

I've just finished my SB ARF and I did a couple of things differently
I used a ball link on both elevator and rudder as I didn't like the twisting link situation. I used a Miniature Aircraft USA 0133 link and 0103 ball.
I also used UP valves on both Retracts and brakes-I don't like open gear doors on the ground as "****" can be thrown into the fuselage, so I used a UP 2.
Also as BVM strangly decided to leave out the brake valve, so I used the UP6 which is easier to set up than a Smooth stop.
I'm using a P80 and LiPo ECU/Rx and the C of G is just about perfect.
Test flight soon, but its light so I think it will be great!
Dave
I am sooooo using yourball-link idea! Hey man, I also will be using a P-80, but I am carrying a lot more fuel than you.........are you sure you got enough mojo? I have about 3.5L, and a UAT on the AFT right corner of the engine bay.

Looks great!

Edit: nevermind on the tanks, I hadn't seen your other pictures. You have enough mojo in there.

We used a Graupner 17.5oz fuel tank wich fits with room to spare and could probably use there 24oz as well.

The one that I am flying with my friend can be moved back a little more from factory setting. I have not had the time to do it but we are flying it with four ounces in the tail and could use a touch more. I will move the batteries as soon as I get time and get rid of the four ounces.

Guys

Got a chance this morning between rain showers to put the ARF together, my scales show 18lb 2oz dry with a P80. This is going to be a great sports fun jet!

Nice pics Dave.... 18 lbs!!! that is great. Good luck on the maiden. I hope mine will be the same (I would think it will be a bit lighter with a wren)

Did your stabs line up perfectly with the holes in the fuse and did you check the incidences? also, did the bypass front extension touch the plywood frame in the top hatch?

Ehab

No I had to move the holes forward I think. Incidence was OK

Yes the wood frame hit, so I cut most of the front frame out as it clamped down on the main tanks overflow tube aswell

Dave, Great weight! Can you tell us what exactly you have inside? Batteries, servos, etc. Any mods that you did to reduce weight?

18 pounds with a P80 is very good!

Ehab,

The incidence was about 1/8th inch out on both my stabs going by the scribe marks on the fuse. Alternativly the rear former that is pre fitted could be wrong, in which case me lining up the centre of the leading edge with the scribe marks was the wrong thing to do.... I really wish they had moulded the root section on to the fuse so it’s easy to tell what’s wrong. I need to buy a incidence gauge!

rc guy

Its stock other than the ECU battery (Thunderpower 4200 2s and Rx 2 x 2100 2s1p Li-Po) with a Powerbox Sensor switch.
This puts the C of G bang on Bob's "safe" position

Regards

I am not happy with the way the stabs just plug in without any real alignment. The production variation may put out the incidence a few degrees. That is why I am asking. I called BV and they said follow the marks. Well, I decided to glue a piece of plywood on the inside of the fuse where the anti rotation receptacle is. Then I am going to measure the incidences before gluing any thing. Once measured, I will make that receptacle movable up and down to adjust the stabs incidence. This way, the trim of the stabs and the elev should match well I am hoping....

Does anyone know if an 8411 will fit in the rudder cutout. I know it is designed for a 9411 but I have an extra 8411 I can use in the rudder if it will fit. Thanks, Gary

Yes, an 8411 will fit fine. I just checked it out. Of course you will have to grind a bit of ply!!!!!

Ehab, thanks for checking for me, I figured since both the 9411 and 8411 are the same width there would not be any problem.

One more question, do you think 8611's would work for the flaps instead of the 8411's? The 8611's are quite a bit thicker than the 8411's. The 8411's are exactly 3/4' thick and the 8611 is about another 1/8" thicker. I am just wondering if the wing is thick enough to accomodate the 8611 servo's. I assume the flap servos are laying on their side when mounted.

Any help would be appreciated. I am collecting servos for the build and using what I have will be a lot easier than selling and buying new ones.

Thanks again, Gary

The 8611 will not fit. The top of the 8411 flap servo is almost touching the servo hatch. It sits at an angle. I used a 5945 and it barley makes it. NO need for the 8611. I talked to BVM and those servos are tested for a 20 lbs turbine!!!

I have been pianting my bandit ARF using Extremely High-Vis paint - I painted the fuselage Flourescent Yellow (after a white base coat) last night and when I came back into the house..........my white walls looked yellow!!!

I'm wearing my sunglasses at night (so cliche!) tonight. [8D]

Did you move the servo sideways? My Bandit has almost no room for a thicker servo...Hey, if you can put in an 8611 then it will be even better and you can use a reverse 8611A...

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I can switch out a couple of servos in my F-16 and come up with 2 more 8411's for the flaps if needed. I don't know if the 8611's need mods to the mount or not but this way I can just bolt the 8411's in w/o any issues...Thanks, Gary

Hi,
do you really need an 8411 for the flaps? I have installed 4721 and plane still hasnt flown yet. In fact kingcat servo list recommends the 4721's...and I reckon that KC flaps are larger than the bandit's?
