If you do a little searching on Google, you find evidence of Tony Yu all over the place. He, or an associate, has a place they call Hobby.com that is at 909 Conklin Street Farmingdale (middle of L.I.) NY 11735. There is a cell phone 631 845 7223 shown.

If you order something from him here is what the typical tracker will look like . . .

This is the name of the company in China is . . . .
http://www.willhobby.com/

All this is pretty well documented in Google and there is a lot of discussion about Tony Yu and the products he represents especially over on another modeling site. Read all this and decide for yourself.

We had a discussion about ASP last year in glow engines. Someone called the US Number. Call and quiz the lady and see what you find out about what she can ship you and where is the shipping point.

To order something from a USA contact and then the product be "drop shipped" from China is not that unusual. In fact, the service can be pretty much as good as ordering something that has to travel across the USA in time frame. In the above example it was 3 days to a Zip in Texas. It was a Will Hobby Transil ARF.

I've ordered from some of the stores in China and got good service. In fact I've had problems with some of the products and the problems were rectified with a RMA to a USA location.

My point is that the only official Sanye representatives in the USA are Hobby People for Magnum engines and Horizon for the Evolution glow engines. As noted in an earlier post, someone Emailed Sanye and the reply was that Horizon was the USA representative for ASP. And indeed they used to sell a lot of them. I've had ASP's from the old Indy R/C place as well as Horizon Hobby in the past.

I called Horizon and they have nothing to do with the ASP or Magnum let alone parts. Not sure why Sanye would tell me to contact them. I did a email exchange with Just Engines in England, they can send me the part I need. Comes out to $22.00 after the conversion to quid and postage. I may have to bite the bullet but will hold off for a while since it is now winter.

The American green back is turning into a world wide piece of dung in comparison to other foreign exchanges.

With the price of oil right now the extra 10 bucks seems fair to ship something across the ocean and in your case the US that comes out to about .001 cent per mile quite a bargin don't you think

Default RE: ASP Engine Parts

Horizon has had a working relationship with Sanye since 1998 when they bought Indy R/C. Horizon (or Hanger 9) sold ASP engines for several years. When Hobby People changed the Magnum engines from being Thunder Tiger to Sanyes and had good volume - For one reason or another Horizon stopped selling ASP engines but still carried the parts up through 2005. Meanwhile Sanye came out with a very different looking two stroke and Horizon sells it as the Evolution glow engine. The Evolution gas engines are from MVVS.

These distributors consider their sources to be proprietary information. If you call Magnum, "They don't carry ASP parts." No, ASP and Magnum are not the same." "Sanye? never heard of them." "Break time? 10:00." The regular people who work in these places have little idea of Chinese inter-relationships of products. They are given the same information that they gave you. They are not allowed to say anything else. And essentially these people have given you the correct answer. Even the Email from China where the person told you that Horizon was a US distributor is correct. Horizon just does not carry any parts for your engine.

There are very few parts of an Evolution two stroke glow engine at Horizon that will fit your ASP four stroke except the needle valve and ratchet spring and maybe a prop washer. Horizon has discontinued the ASP parts that they carried for 5 years after they quit selling the ASP engine brand.

The ASP "S" series 52 two stroke and the Magnum XLS 52 two engines have different cylinder heads. In bigger sizes, one is ABC and the other ringed.

Yet when you set a later Magnum, AP, ASP, SC, Sanye, Evolution, and RCS engine side by side, it is quickly obvious who made them even though some parts will vary and not be interchangeable.

Hello everybody, I need some help here.. I recently acquired an ASP .91 new series that looks like the O.S. I was wondering if one can use an O.S. pitts muffler for this engine. Also, would it be a pitts for the .61 or the .91 since i think the casings are the same size. If these mufflers do not work, does anybody know what pitts muffler I could use? Thank you.

All ASP engine are basically copies of different OS engines. Which ASP do you have.

The current one is the "S" and it is compatible with the 91FX series of OS engine.

Willhobby on Ebay is dodgy and his account is closed down, also he seems to be over at RCG? as for parts ASP seems very expensive? I looked at Jen and they seem not too bad but being in NZ I will try Galtec first as I also need a back plate seem to be a common theme.... back plate gets stuck and we break em trying to get them off?

FWIW That address is one of those self serve storage outfits he rented. Stay away... FAR away from ANYTHING Will Hobby!

I have a 91 Magnum that I just put that carb on the asp 1.08 and it seems to be a perfect fit except the overall size of the carb is slightly smaller that the stock 1.08 ASP carburator... Will I lose a little power/rpm with that carburator....?

I will test run it on a stand later...

Thanks... Richard

There will unlikely be enough power difference for you to notice

Hello All, I recently crashed a H9 Hellcat which I was running an ASP .91 Fourstroke (not sure what series) and the crash ripped the high end needle valve assembly right off the carb.. where the nipple is on the carb it doesn't allow the threads to go down very far because fuel would be blocked otherwise and the crash just ripped the shallow threads right out of the casing in the carb.... anyway I notice a lot of you asking about ASP parts, I dealt with a company named Just Engines who distribute O.S. and ASP Engines overseas.  Yes it was more expensive to deal with them because of the currency exchange and air mail but they really know their stuff and have a complete breakdown parts listing for your needs.

True, but fuel draw should improve.

The old 91 magnum and the 108 used the same carb. The only difference was a blue steel spring bushing inside the carb on the 91 which can be removed, if desired, for use on the 108.

I would just leave the bushing in there

I don't buy ASP engines unless I find a really terrific deal on them. It just makes more sense to buy Magnum engines if you want Sanye products in the USA. However, a while back, Hobby King (in China) was selling ASP 1.08 engines for $69.00 a piece. I bought two.

My first ASP 1.08 was a Redhead. When ran on 5% nitro (or less) and propped for about 9k rpm, it was one of the sweetest engines that I have ever owned. I hope that my latest two ASP 1.08 engines are as well mannered, should I ever get around to using them.

Ed Cregger

Addendum: Oh! And the last time that Hobby People/Magnum had a sale on two and four-stroke .52 engines and two-stroke .15 engines, I bought two of each, six total. That was a great deal.

I had a half dozen ASP engines at one time but have sold them all but one. The new ones came from Just Engines in the UK. I bought them when the exchange raste was more attractive.

The ASP 120 four stroke I still have is a real sweet heart. It is made like the OS 120 Surpass III pumped except the carb is like the Surpass E.

It is most definitely a 15 X 8 , 16 X 6, or larger engine.

Thanks to all of you for the great info and discussion on the ASP and the Magnum.... I have two 91 two strokes and one 1.08... (all 3 are ASP) ....As I indicated in my earlier post I was concern about a lost of power and even once an engine running lean due to an airleak perhaps... I found that my 1.08 had an indention in the throat of the carburator near where the locking nut tightens to hold the carburator in the engine... I believed the dent to be from a crash.... but now I find that all three of my ASP's have the same dent on the outside of the carburator throat.... so it appears that the indention may have been caused by tightening the nut too much...

What do you think....? and would that not cause an air leak?

It most likely came from tightening the nut too much.

It may also be a source of the air leak

There is an o-ring that should make the seal. A small indent on the carb throat is nothing to worry about, it comes from the draw bar.
