[b]My 89" PT-19 is ready for it's maiden. I've been waiting for a perfect day to fly it. It's powered by a Surpass 1.20. I hope that's enough power. After reading these posts, I'm having second thoughts.
Tony, what brand of pilots did you use?

I finally did the maiden on my Dynaflite PT-19 yesterday. Now I'm having to learn the ins and outs of inverted engine operation. The 1.20 Surpass pulls it along fine. It will just barely do an outside loop. Some advice for anyone considering an on-board glow starter: buy one with the biggest battery you can find. The 800 mA on my Ram starter is good for about two flights set to operate at just above idle and below.
The plane is a great flier; now I need to figure out how to haul it with my little Bronco II.

Just found this thread. The Dynaflight PT 19 was the first RC model I built (took about six months which included three weeks holiday when I built each day). I then waited 2 years whilst I learnt to fly (able to select area to crash)on a Kyosho trainer (wings parted company from fuselage on windy day) then a TF Contender (still flying).

Mine came out at 6.3Kg with OS 108 and six inch wheels. I covered it in coverall and spray painted the wings yellow and fuselage blue.

What a plane . It looks so scale in the air and with the 108 lifts off at half throttle and easily loops at the same throttle setting.

Cheers,

Colin

I see..not many options. I did find the web-site and looked at what they had. Sure wish they had that Flybaby monoplane yet. Now with all the nice little gas engines like the G26 out...Dynaflite should have more to offer. Thanks Capt,n[]

Cat'n, If you are a scratch builder you might be able to order plans and parts from Dynaflite for the Flybaby, etc. I have bought plans, part sheets, landing gear, canopy, etc for their Chipmunk. Unfortunately the price of the plans/parts is about the same for the whole kit......then you buy the remaining wood and hardware. Since you have a lot of the scratch building reduced via the part sheets it is at least do'able. And you can save weight by buying good quality wood. Just a thought.

I bought a DF PT 19 a couple of years ago with a US 41. Engine was way too heavy and too powerful. Weighed about 19 pounds with about 16 OZ of lead in the tail and still nose heavy by about 12 OZ. Flew fast and in a bank would nose down becasue of the heavy engine.
Last month I changed to an Evolution 1.6 and removed all lead. Balanced slight nose heavy and now flys great with more scale speed. The engine is fantastic. Now weighs about 15 pounds.

Here is a picture of a PT-19 I built years ago. I sold it to a friend. I reacquired the plane lately and am refinishing it. I have to do the windscreens and paint the wings and struts. Here is a shot of the fuselage. It is done in Chilean Training school colors.
I have test flown the plane (US41) since the rebuild, and it flew great. I tossed a smoker on it while I was at it. We all know the South Americans like a little flair.
