what is the current top 3d plane?

RE: what is the current top 3d plane?
I am torn between the fusion or mojo. I've been flying a full bodied 55" edge 540t (no where near enough power to hover) and am ready to step into a good first plane for 3d. I have an OS 120ax in the box still and need to know if this motor is good for the fusion 90 at 5500' elevation. any help greatly appreciated thanks!

The only profile I own is the 52" Fusion. It is one of the best all around planes I have ever flown. The only ones that have out flown it are much larger planes. I have had my hands on a Katana V2 I think it was. It is better at tumbles and flat spins. If that's all you want to do it is great. But it flys like a profile. Take that to be good or bad depending on your point of view. The Fusion flys like a full body plane with none of the bad habits.

SIG Fazer rules! (ha ha).
The Mojo is a flat-out 3D hucking machine. It doesn't fly precision anywhere near as well as the Fusion (and other longer-tailed planes).
It depends on whether you want to mix a bit of pattern or precision flying with your 3D hucking which way you go.
Lots of folks seem to love the Fusion (which will 3D along with the best of them) and lots just love their Mojos.
I don't think you'd be disappointed with either.

Cheeto, I flew a Fusion 90 with the AX on it, and it was nutz power. But I'm not at 5500 feet either. It had a 16x6 APC on it, I think, and I felt it could have done a 17x6 just as well.
I don't know many folks up as high as you to know who to ask about the elevation difference and the impact it will have on this engine.
But, for reference sake, the one I flew was just a nudge below 8 pounds, and the AX had no trouble pulling from a hover, with much gusto.

Ayerrrr ya go.
Can anyone give an estimate, or a calculation so that us ignorant lowlanders can understand power/efficiency loss at altitude?
At what altitude will you have 90% of sea level power, 75% blah blah blah. Even a decently educated guess would be of interest to me. All other things equal, what happens up there?
I simply have no clue how fast a change in altitude affects power and prop efficiency.

I can't really answer your question. However I fly at 2,100ASL. The OKC guys that come to our fly in's are used to 900ASL. The hot shots tell me they can feel the difference. Not so much in prop bite and wing lift but more in horse power. I guess it would be the difference between flying on a 95 degree day and flying on a 75 degree day.

Awsome, thanks for all the info guys I think im leaning towards the fusion but which ever i choose I'll be sure to let you guys know the performance for an idea of the altitude effect.
