OK so back on topic....
how do the phantoms preform on short technical courses. Do they bolt out of corners or is all of the power make at higher rpm's?

I have heard they have alot of their power in high RPM's but they don't slouch in acceleration either. If you have a 2 speed this shouldn't be much of a problem, as long as you set the shifting of the 2 speed so it shifts a little after the corner exit speed. I don't really know from experience though, its just what I have heard.

what is your budget?
If you want a great motor that is good on fuel and you do have about $200, just buy a MT12. It will give you all the snap that you need and top speed as long as you do have the 2 speed tranny(you do don't you?). It is a great motor and if I was to put the money in a motor for under 200, it would be one of my first choises. That or a Colari. Again, just one persons input.

I remember racing on the HPI Challenge and HPI dictates what needs to be in the car.
There are no baseline on the published hp. Some companies (RB comes to mind) does not publish hp as ratings. Dyno should give the numbers. Didn't a magazine did some dyno testing and published their numbers?
MT12 is a good choice.
Who have actually raced (not parking lot or bash) the Fantom. I would like to try it out.

Fantom 03' .15 w/ps
-1.25 HP RPM 42,500

The non 2003 one is from previous years and is ABSC instead of ABC. Other parts are slightly changed too. You would want the 2003 engine if you were to get one though.
