Here is my Facet 2300 that I built around 2004-2005 It's powered by a JetCat P80. Quite a few jet pilots got their initiation on it. It's still going strong and fun to shoot touch and go's. A good aircraft to start out on.

It's great to see all these Facets still in operation.A may be of interest that the Facet design is currently available as Plans and foam wing cores from me and a laser cut would set from National Balsa.

The plans now include wing core cutting templates for the builder that wishes to cut there own cores.

Now that I have retired, I'm also working on a new set of plans that will replicate an A6 appearance as I have had many requests. This will be sized in between the older Facet 1200 and 2300 series and of the same size as my one off Facet-1700R/G design now in the hands of my good friend, Mark McCraken. I will offer a new molded canopy and inlet set.

Please email me for more info and to be added to the notification list.

Regards,
Kerry S.

Hi:

A friend has a Facet for a 14 lb turbine, but is not assembled. He is requiring me for assembling it. I have no idea where he get it but I wonder if some of you can help me in how to install turbine and all the internal stuffs. Some pictures or drawings will be helpful. Also surface throws and CG

Thanks in advance

Guillermo,
I suggest that you contact Kerry Sterner, the designer of the Facet Series for plans and instructions. Also this thread shows at least one installation of turbine components. Other contributors may follow.
Which Facet Series are you tasked to build, the 1200, 1200 HP,1700 or 2300? It would be helpful to know this information.
Rgds,
Art

Kerry, Remember me? Les Morrow; I purchased a couple of Sim Jet engines from you, and also purchased a SkyMaster F4 in exchange for the big Simjet Nexus a few years back. The F4 is built and flying with 2 P100 engines in it. Kinda wondered where you had gone to. Good to hear from you.

I have had about 4 or 5 Facets over the years and really enjoy flying them, but have always wanted to kit bash one into an A6. I would really appreciate being placed on your notification list for the A6 version of the Facet. I currently have a P70 that is unemployed, and needs a home!!

Regards, Les Morrow

I saw this Facet 1200 HP built by Ray Davis, several years ago at one of our North East area jet togethers. Knowing that Ray was an exceptional builder/modeler and flew this plane regularly at his home grass field, I knew then that this would be the ideal plane for every day flying at our 400+ foot grass club field in North Central Connecticut. The Facet went onto my ("someday to build wish list"). Sadly, Ray passed away a few years ago leaving all of his treasures in his shop on Cape Cod. When Ray's wife decided to sell his treasures I told her I would like to buy Ray's Facet. Long story short, the plane now resides in my hangar. It had an air start Wren 44 engine in it that I sent to England so Mike Murphy could convert it to Kero start. My good friend and jet mentor has been working with me to trim it for relaxing flying. It's wears the signs of many flight hours but it is a sweetheart in the air. I'll be adding electric brakes (currently on order from DreamWorks) for the occasional paved runway outing.

Guillermo,
Refer to Les' P-60 installation shown in Post # 19 of this thread. I plan to incorporate the double-decker arrangement of the turbine components in my own Facet. There's not a lot of space in the 1200 or 1200 HP Series for equipment installation and it just takes some careful planning. Good luck on the build and show us the results when finished or underway.
Note that John's Facet 1200HP(built by Ray Davis) is over 10 years old with hundreds of flights at many model fields here in northeast USA. The A-6 markings are rub-on from Air Loft.
Rgds,
Art

This would be my go to, just a fun simple design

Hi Ron,
I've been thinking on shrinking down a Facet to take a Mecury 90mm EDF that I have. I think it will make a nice Sunday flyer. It would'nt be that hard to do.

That sounds like a great idea Wayne!! hope you and Steve are doing great! I've put in a request with Kerry to get plans, foam and wood to build a facet 2300.
Going to be on the look out for a used turbine and have a nice cheap jet to mess with. Hope to run into you guys at a meet soon.
