hi all, i am 27 myself and have been into the heli sceen for over a year.. i have been into r/c for a long time.. i currently have a trainer .40 plane, tmaxx, duratrax evader, falcon 40, and a hbk2. i started flying with an axe cp, never used a simulator when i started and learned the hard way(i really haven't learned yet!lol) i recently bought the realflight g4 and it is definately the tool anyone needs to learn how to fly a heli. i have learned more in a week on the simulator than i have in a years time of just flying.. good day to you all

Goldslinger,
This didn't really end up the way I had planned. I'm 58, my wife is 44 and we have a 5 year old boy who was "Acquired through attrition", as my wife says (raising her nephew). So she is still a bit demanding (although she is very understanding), I'm looking at ways to finance college rather than retirement, PTA is gonna start next year, career still gets beaten up by the economy. Of course when I was 39 and married a 25 year old I thought I had it made!
So this is an escape from reality more than a way to spend free time.
Man I appreciate you guys being here!

I mean, what if I get hit by a bus tomorrow or something. (why is it always a bus)?

Am 56, have a CX, Esky FP and CP. I tell friends this has to be the stupidest hobby ever, it's a real heart breaker. Ya know, we gotta be nuts; one bad move and it's bits and pieces all over the place...

RE: How old are you? Just Curious
30 next month - been in the hobby almost a year and loving it. Started with a CX, learned to hover a CPP, and now flying a 400.
Such a fun hobby that I always wanted to get in - just had to wait until I made enough money to fund it. I got my Stepdad, father in law, and friends into the hobby as well.
My 14 month old daughter has two helis - but they are both occupied by 'little people' and have no motors, etc. So cute.
Anyway - good thread, nice to know more about you folks who I converse with daily.
And BIG thank you to Soloboss for taking the donation, time, and effort to get our soldiers some well deserved helis.

RE: How old are you? Just Curious
I just turned 43 and got into the RC hobby for the first time with the CX2 about a year ago.
Now I have a Blade 400 as well.
Moved to the Rocky Mountains 7 years ago.
Got married 5 years ago and have two boys, 3 1/2 and 2 years old.
I also have two jobs and I'm an avid fly fisherman.
I like to do everything at once, takes a lot of the thinking out of the mix, I just react to the current situation.

RE: How old are you? Just Curious
Great thread and comments! Am 59 myself.
Here's a quote that I think befits us all:
"You're not only the age you are. You're all the ages you've ever been." Fred Rodgers ("Mr Rodgers" kids TV show of yesteryear.)
Thank goodness for AirHogs. They really make you want another heli that you can control. My financial advisor, a.k.a. wife, (of 34 years) has been most understanding. She believes this hobby is a small price to pay to keep me smiling , and, I think, keep me at home where she can keep an eye on me. Guess she's right. It's after 1am and I'm here at home all night enjoying, and learning from this forum---again.
I've been acting like all the ages I've ever been since upgrading to the CX2 five weeks ago. We'll see how far I can milk the "...small price to pay..." when it's time to upgrade to a single rotor. LOL
Thanx to The Collective for guiding a newbie along the way! RC is great to keep the mind sharp. RC is great to keep the mind sharp.

You guys are truely amazing. I cannot believe the amount of (cough cough) seniors we have here. Very cool!! Really thought this thread would have had alot of youngins' replying but that is not the case.
Actually I am a youngin' compared to some here. You all give me great hope for this hobby for many, many years to come.
My wife needs to read this thread then maybe she will understand. Ya right.
Heres to all the older gentlemen [sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]

RE: How old are you? Just Curious
I am 31 years young. I just got into RC helis about 3 months ago with the CX2. I have big plans for future birds....if I could only win the lottery lol. I have 2 kids a 2 1/2year old daughter and a newborn son, and yes he and I are already talking about helis. Figure I ought to start him young so I can have an ally in the funding battle with my accountant/wife.
Love the hobby and appreciate all of the help this forum and it's contributers provide for rookie just getting into the air. Keep the information coming.

34, just had a kid and will probably have another soon. very challenging to raise kids and keep up hobbies. my old hobby used to be computers but I want to be able to get out with my kids and do something fun. I'd always wanted to fly helis when I was young but could never afford it, I figure my son won't have that problem since he'll get hand me downs from me.

I am 18. I have been in the RC scene for as long as I can remember. I started flying helicopters in August. Blade CX and CP Pro, E-Sky Belt CP, and Hobbyzone Super Cub.

RE: How old are you? Just Curious
Hello all,
You guys with all your retirement talks...LOL. I'm 32 and I should be joining the retiree ranks in 6 years. I'm kinda scared, but at the same time excited to have the opportunity to work at Lowe's I've been flying RC for a couple of months now. I currently fly a BCX and a B400. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to take Uncle Sam's $8M+ girl on a daily basis. So for me, the RC is my time away from work (ironic, huh?). Hopefully one day I can fly the B400 as well as my expensive date .
Blue skies to all!
Kenn
