right i wasnt planning on any mud bogging or anything like that just winter is coming up and i wanted something alittle more water proof. i swapped out the tmaxx steering servo with the metal gear servo from my mini mgt 3.0 wich is Torque: 111 oz wich you can easily see and feel the difference.

i changed all the fuel lines and glow plug so tomorrow is running day. i ran it once but it wasnt running well because things were way wrong with the servo's and tuning. hopefully all goes well.

I run with a hard body,z cage and no body. I have ran it through the snow and had no issues. Just make sure you take it inside that way nothing freezes and breaks things. And if you want to run in the snow you will need some paddle tires or some extra wide ones. Mine always would dig down then get hung up on the chassis.

I don't know without seeing your rig first hand but, I had an issue with my T-Maxx after I bought it. I tried and tried to get it to turn without having to be moving new servos and hump pack. Still, it wouldn't turn. Turns out the guy that had it before me messed with the pivot balls trying to change the camber. Well, he had them set all wrong and they were causing it to bind up while attempting to turn. I finally got them set correctly now it turns on a dime.

ive already got my problem fixed. i left one water proof servo as throttle/brake and took the metal mini mgt 3.0 servo and put it in as my steering and its all good to go. my rig is simple all stock but ive upgraded to all aluminum bulk heads and all aluminum steering. will have to see tomorrow how it all goes my friend had this all screwed up. i already took apart the entire engine and sealed everything it start up immediatly i just gotta get everythingtuned up and idling.

can someon e post me a link to tower or wherever so i can upgrade my tires and rims. the stock ones are still good but one tire the plastic is broke and it tends to wobble. i was concidering using my 1/10th tires off my mini mgt 3.0 but im not sure if it will cause any harm. they are alittle smaller but fit perfectly.

First I would head over to http://www.prolineracing.com/ Just when buying tires and wheels remember the sizes have to match. The most common tmaxx wheels are 3.2 and 3.8 inchs. I recommended proline mashers. They work on all surfaces with tons of traction. If you got money for a really nice tire check out http://rc4wdstore.com/index.php

here is to towers tire section - http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0093p?&C=CJG

well im still have some problems but im not giving up. i got plenty of cash to spend to get this working. here are my problems

1. ive got the HSN set great and the idle is idling fine. My problem is when i place the LSN at stock the wheels start to spin very fast until i turn it out ALOT. even with the LSN turned out alot the truck when off the ground the wheels still want to spin by themselved. ive tryed lowering the idle but if i go any lower it will cut out

2. for some off reason the Blue Aluminum steering that was put on the truck seems a bit big and tends to get hung up.
The alu steering is the same as this setup just aluminum.

As for the wheels spinning you need to adjust your brakes. And on the steering the one I have from proline had the spring on the receiver side. Due to my chassis I had to install it like the picture. And make sure all your bearings spin freely.

im not sure its a Brake issue with the wheels spinning when you take them off the ground because when you take the truck off the ground when its running. it starts to Rev higher and the wheels will spin.

If the truck sets on the ground and does not jerk and the idle is fine all is well. If the spinning bothers you either adjust the idle or brakes. If you brakes are set right the tires should be locked up until the throttle is engaged releasing the brake.

If it has reverse that jerking is the clutch's on the output shaft engaging. The idle may be to high but depending on where you live decides how to tune so you may need that high idle.

no reverse but here is the issue I think. i meantioned earlier that it had a cracked rim so i tryed a backflip and well lets say the tire broke completely off. so i had to take the tires of my mini mgt 3.0 and put them on wich in turn lowered it alittle but gave it better handling.

now onto the issue. i noticed that the clutch bell is completely flush with my fly wheel wich im thinking is what is making my truck want to move on its own. im also getting low speed leans could that be caused by improper shim? (I have tryed to richen the LSN and HSN but cant get rid of the low speed leans) Basicly WOT and it starts slowing down is when its happening. stop when i press the brakes.

could you direct me to a site or anything that could tell me how to shim this engine?

ok looking more at the clutch bell i noticed the guy who had it before me had this together wrong. ipulled it all apart and fixed it and now it doesnt rub anymore and spins freely. its a bit late now to run the truck to see if it moved on its own but its looking good. How i find this out was when the truck was shut off if you moved it forward or back i could hear metal rubbing. i hope this fixed my problems.

I have not heard about engine shimming unless you mean spacing the clutch bell but you may want to check out the traxxas website. Traxxas has its own forum and it has a lot more people than this one.

yeah the way he had it together was flywheel, bell, spacer then Pin. i found the manual and found that the spacer goes inside the clutch bell not outside so once i put it inside the bell it spaced the bell so now it doesnt rub on the fly wheel and spins freely. ive had to do ALOT of work in the past 3 days to get where i am right now and this is my last problem i am hoping.

i will give an update tomorrow morning and let you know if my problems are fixed.

A lot of times with these Rc's people think they know better and will really change things around. Its good your finding all these mess ups. How did the clutch shoes look?

they looked good didnt look warn at all. yeah its tuff because im new to nitro. ive only been into nitro for about a month and a half. so far what you see below is what i own. i bought the mini mgt 3.0 used wich i havent tryed to tech yet needs work and i just got this tmaxx like 3 days ago wich so far has been giving me issues but im almost at the end of the problems and im basicly learning this all on my own. i have stripped down the tmaxx slot so far and dismantled the entire engine to make sure everything is ok. has great compression.

its not as hard as people say it is just takes patience and time. im really praying that tomorrow since i fixed the clutch bell issue it also fixes my lean issue. i was thinking the problem with the lean was because the clutch bell and fly wheel where rubbing and the fly wheel basicly was making the car move on its own and when i WOT the engine wants to rev down but the fly wheel wasnt letting it resulting in a lean noise. or i could be wrong but im hoping im not.

anyways thanks for the help and ill let you know in the AM the results.

Hopefully the engine was broke in properly and that it does not have worn parts. If you do have a leak on the engine there will be a lot of visible grease on the chassis. You should get a temp gun so you can make sure your temps are within allowance. I believe that the 3.3 should not go over 270. Once you get the engine running right you should work on aligning the suspension. It makes a big difference if you get the gauges from RPM and do the adjustments right. Another thing that is very important is to keep the truck clean. The cleaner it is the sooner you catch problems. You should get used to tearing it apart fairly often.

im already ahead of you ive got a temp gun already and ive alreadt torn the engine apart and checked for wear everything looks good. i know the engine was broke in properly i was there when it was being broke in. the engine only had 1 gallon or less through it. but i do remember him taking lots of things apart when he was cleaning. im gonna go outside in about 15 minutes and see whats up

The other problem at the moment and im not sure if it will hurt anything but im using the tires of my mini mgt 3.0 monster cause i didnt have a choice. the one rim on the stock tires was cracked in the center where the nut holds the tire on and when i hit the jump and im not used to jumps yet it came down on the nose but ended up snapping the tire completely off lol. the tires are almost brand new for being stock so if i can get new rims ill just reglue em.

well i scratching thios almost brand new b/s cause no matter what i do this engine just doesnt want to run correct. i have tryed tuning from stock settings with no luck. what its doing is this. i tightend down the brake some but the wheels still spin no matter what when the truck is upside down. the other problem is Low speed lean wich i cant seem to correct. when i WOT and the truck starts slowing itself downit sounds like low speed lean but the truck just keeps going. almost like a car with no brakes.

when its on the ground it will move on its own so i gotta hold the brake. when i press the throttle it almost sounds like its flooded and cuts out. ive tryed richening and leaning and still does it. the temps are rediculas readching 320 but i cant seem to get them any lower or it runs like doo doo. im about to scrap this engine and replace it.

It may have a seal leak. I have not had it happen so I don't pay attention to what they say when someone asks. If you search the traxxas.com forums for leak in the maxx section there is tons of info about it.

i was wondering ive taken this engine completely apart and ive noticed that the inside of the engine is a caramel/darkbrown in color. i do know he ran the traxxas fuel wich i already know turns the engine this color. I did find that the Clutch shoes were warn and the springs were falling off.

what do the clutch shoes actualy do . could this be the reason the truck wants to move on its own?

Well there is most likely your problem. What the clutch does is as the engine builds up rpm's there will be a point where the spring can no longer hold the shoes back. When this happens the shoes expand out and catch the clutch bell which then sends power out to spur gear. Having a broken spring allows the shoes to open much easier. They don't get enough grip to really do anything but enough to cause the jerking you were having. I am answering questions about flywheels and clutch's in another thread. If you want to upgrade head over there and see what is available. And if you need to get new fuel I suggest Blue Thunder HP8 20%. You cant use it to break in a engine but it is just a awesome fuel. The engine runs faster, cooler, and cleaner. The best part is it only costs about a dollar more.

well i use S&W 20% im having other issues besides the shoes i did notice that the Carb has a stripped screw. if you look at this pic http://media.photobucket.com/image/t.../Engine2-3.jpg

you will see the Chrome allen screw what ever it is it broke right off. im thinking about replacing the carb and shoes or just buying a whole new engine and saying screw this one. what engine would you recommend for a stock t maxx 3.3
