RE: 2.5R tuning,
if i look at the face on so 1st gear is first, first can turn both ways with ease and 2nd gear will only spin counter clockwise

RE: 2.5R tuning,
okay so my problem is first turns either way on the shaft and 2nd only turns counter clockwise, would that be a OWB bearing fix?

RE: 2.5R tuning,
I think youmay beconfusing 1st and 2nd gear.
1st gear is the large gear at the rear. It should only spin counter clockwise when looking at it like this.
2nd gear is the smaller gear in front of 1st . It should spin in either direction.

RE: 2.5R tuning,
alright so its not my transmission that was slipping then, what else could be slipping?, the clutch on the motor?, I was running a fully locked slipper with no slipper pegs in it, just to see if it could even drive, But there's no signs of wear on the gear other then a few busted teeth from all the bucking/jolting, but now it just spins and wont get into gear any ideas?, motor clutch possibly?

RE: 2.5R tuning,
Alright small update there, My 2.5 is giving me a hard time i run a tiger drive and a fully charged glow ignitor and it doesn't want to start, it was bought used, i took the head off the engine to see what was up and the top of the piston is black as night, i've poured a decent amount of money into my maxx but it all seems a waste if my engine wont run, i have it back to the stock 4 turns out on the high and flush with the needle on the Low, what is the best drop in motor for the maxx?

RE: 2.5R tuning,
T-Maxxes and Sport Maxxes plus a couple other Traxxas vehicles suffer from crappy fueltank design .That causes the truck to lose its tune as the tank empties making the engine run hot and lean...From 1/2 tank til empty you have to mostly play the keep richening it game or just keep topping it off when it hits 1/2 tank....the fuel output nipple can be stretched open more to cure the problem or you can swap tanks with a better one from another model that fits with a top suction tank design...The 3.3 is a descent engine and its displacement is .20...Plenty of power for your truck...I have a 4910 model T-maxx that had the Pro.15 engine and i made it 3.3 and as wide asthe 4909/08 models...
Most of my T-Maxxes are 3.3..1 has twin 3.3's and one of my 4908 models has a Sirio.27 midblock thats really good with loads of power....if you decide to get a bigger engine like a 3.3 or larger I suggest getting a set of centershafts from a 3.3 4909 model T-Maxx.....

If the rod and bearings are worn and need replaced it is usually more cost efective to get a new mill.
