I really hope Scott's business does recover from this situation. But I don't blame anyone for getting antsy when they haven't received an engine after several months ESPECIALLY this time of year... the flying season is short enough for people at more northern latitudes!

I'm hoping to maiden my edge today and now the challenge is to get 4 gallons of break-in fuel through by the end of the season... wish me luck!

hi,
yes i did say to fly other planes, build other planes and enjoy other planes. when i ordered my engine it was done with an informed researched decision. its not like brillelli is a marketing giant plastered all over the rc magazines with mailers going out monthly displaying specials. finding out about these engines requires word of mouth and research. my apologies for automatically assuming that this engine would not be someone's first engine and first plane.

as far as the comments about seeing this as a crunch a person thread. well displaying the county sheriff, that sheriff's name and even providing the phone number. yeah i find that to be a crunch thread. sorry for seeing it that way.

apriliamille,
you claimed in an earlier thread that you have received an email from Scott E. It was not in regards to an order that you have with Scott E. that is months late like ours is it? Could you share with all of us exactly what your email subject was. You should not mislead people with erroneous information, especially in a rather sensitive thread like this one. Lastly, you definition of "crunch thread" is way off man. Re-read the post in which you are referencing. If you still don't get it, send it to another person and ask them to interpret it for you. Better yet, put your money where your mouth is: Send Scott E. money for a new engine and try calling or emailing him when you have not heard anything in 12 weeks or more. This whole thing is not about "crunching" you see, it's all about principle and sharing our rather unfortunate experience/s with a common merchant. That's all it really about. Those of you who try to make it out to be something else are just wrong, and there's plenty of people on here that see through all rhetoric.

Try toning yours down a bit.

Your posted information for contacting the Sheriff is helpful for those who want to take that path.

I’m certain readers here ‘get it’…both your frustrated view point and other views thinking it may be extreme in Scott’s case.

However there is no need to become a 900 pound Gorilla careening around the room stomping on those who disagree or aren’t interested in joining the 'crunching' nor the 'posse.'

Hey Dick,

Sorry, but do I know you? Dick, are you out any money here? Or do you simply have a bleeding heart for Scott E? Are you a business operator of any sort? If so do you ignore your customers? Please be honest and don't command me to tone it down sir. you have no authority or right to tell me to tone it down. If you have a need to feel "in control" then maybe you go tell your dog or children to tone it down, but not me sir. Please re-read my posts, think as hard as your brain will allow, and try to actually comprehend what is being said in this thread. There is no mob, posse or crunching going on here. That notion is fabrication that you are trying to impose upon us here.

If you want to be a nanny or hall monitor then do it in some other thread. Leave us alone.

i can't believe what i'm reading here............Dick has made a good point.
those of you that have spent money whether it be paypal or CC may indeed have the right to feel taken, but i highly doubt that's the case.
what Scott is going thru can happen to anyone, and from the rep that Scott has built up, it's obvious he is a stand up guy going thru some jacked up times.
amazing is that when all is good, everyone expects 120% out of Scott and from what i know, Scott has put in 150% of effort to satisfy............but now things are down, so let's get the local Sheriff to go on out and start shootin his place to bits................what will that solve?
some of you consumers just crack me up...................

You know, now I understand why there are people who swim with sharks and say they're misunderstood creatures who really don't want to eat us but it's just that we're in their habitat. What happens if you swim with sharks long enough? YOU GET EATEN! And there are those who hang out with the Grizzly Bears and say how they are misunderstood creatures who don't really want to eat us but its just that we're in their habitat . What happens if you run with the bears long enough? Hmmmm let's see... YOU GET EATEN! So to all you bleeding heart liberals (probably Democrats) I say "If you ain't spent the money then don't come crying in this thread", and telling those who have forked out their hard earned dollars to "tone it down" or "fly something else". Just go back into the woods with Gentle Ben or go swim with Jaws, I believe the Darwin Awards might be taking applications. Scott appears to be getting back in the saddle but my repair is no where near the money that other's have spent and as a businessman I say to Scott that past praises do not carry much weight with the buying public when you cut off all contact. On a positive note, my carb and spacer are at my local Post Office, Thank You Scott!

Happy Flying!

Hey summerwind, you hit the nail on the head.Scott did his magic on a Stihl engine for me a couple of months ago,and I could'nt be more pleased with it.I can only hope he gets back on his feet. This guy works a regular job,has health problems, and tries to make all of us happy. It's all good while we're getting what we want, but one little glitch and it's get the rope time.I too am waiting on a couple of engines a Honda GX-35,and a 36cc Husky chainsaw engine, but mine are just conversions(parts and some machine work)so I'll just wait it out.As summerwind said Scott is a stand up guy.I've seem this same kind of thing happen to Adam at BCMA engines, and he's still going strong.Oh well nuff said.By the way summerwind, where do you fly?I live a couple a miles south of you on the "99".

Maybe Scott should get a loan to pay off the ones thst want $$ back and items sent back. The rest of you guys that have faith enough to wait will make his loan smaller. But he should reply to the ones first...that want money back. Just my 2 cents. Capt,n

Listen,

I'm one of the guys who forked out 425.00 dollars for some of Scott's stuff. I'm willing to wait a little while to receive my engine. I have other planes and engines. What chaps me about the situation is that Scott is not taking any time to respond to emails or phone calls from customers. I'm also chapped about the fact that he told me he would send me an engine mount, (that I've already paid for), and did not do it. USPS does not take 3 weeks to go from Minnesota to South Carolina.

I don't care if he reads the forums on the various modeling sites. He can screen out the calls for basic inquiries. He can ignore the emails about whether one of his engines will fit this plane or that. But he should never ignore those of us who have given him money, and have received nothing, not even an acknowledgement, in return. I have had no previous history with Brillelli. My impression is based solely on the fact that I've sent him money, he won't return my phone calls or emails, and when I finally do get through to him, he makes a false promise to me. In my book, that makes him a liar.

In a relatively small industry, I can see how some guys get familiar with their suppliers. They become casual friends in a way, and that can cloud the customer/merchant relationship. No doubt Scott has done some great work for some of you guys in the past. But you guys need to look at the situation from my perspective. If this were your first experience with Scott and Brillelli, would you be so forgiving?

All he needs to do is send me my engine mount, and shoot me an email or phone call, and give me an honest appraisal of when I can expect my merchandise and I'll back off. But ignoring me and others is what is making this situation escalate, and he is doing that all on his own.

Wow! I have been following this thread a little and have read many of the posts from folks who are discouraged, worried, fed up waiting and even ****** off. I feel for those who have sent money and are yet to have anything to show for it. I am glad I'm not in your shoes. If I were I would be rather anxious myself. I am a two time Brillelli customer and have two great engines now. Scott has answered every question I've had and has even sent me extras free of charge. From many phone calls and email exchanges I am 100% confident in saying that Scott really is as great a person as everyone says and would NEVER intentionally defraud anyone. I can certainly understand the frustration of leaving messages that do not get answered or returned. I can also understand the sentiment that business is business and that a company should never leave a payed customer hanging. I don't know what his exact situation is right now so I won't speculate how I would handle it but for everyone who is ready to crucify Scott, think about this:

Scott is a one man show. He works a full time job and builds engines in his time off. Additionally, I believe he also has a family. In the limited amount of "spare" time he has, he's got emails to answer, messages to listen to and return, engines to repair, engines to build, orders to pack and ship and orders for parts to place. So maybe some of you should print him out a schedule of just how he should spend his day. You B$*&h because you don't have your orders, then you B$*&h because you don't get your messages or emails returned and then while he's trying to build your engines and return your messages and emails you B$*&h because he hasn't sent you a refund! I'll bet all of you WISH you had the time that you apparently think he has! Hell, I wish I had that kind of time too.

I really do feel your pain if you don't have your engines or your money but I HATE seeing a good man get his name trashed because he's fallen on hard times. I hope none of you ever do and let a few people down. Scott has done a lot of good for a lot of people and I can't wait to see him recover. My 50GT is nothing short of AWESOME!

Flame on! I'm a fireman I can take it!

Default RE: Where's Brillelli???

I ordered a motor mount for Brillelli Engines on June 23rd and paid with Paypal. Today is August 9 and I have not received it. I sent an email, with a "read receipt" requested. I got a notice that it was "displayed on his computer" But not an explaination or response on when or if my motor mount will be shipped. I also filed a case complaint with PayPal and Scott E. has not responded to that. Now I have escalated the complaint to try to get my money back. Still no response. I understand he could be having health problems, but someone is looking at the emails. All he would have to do is send a quick statement back like " sorry for the delay, I have been sick, or I have gotten behind in my workload and it will take a few days....
"Cut and paste" is easy and fast. That is all I ask! The way it looks now is that he is accepting orders and collecting money with no intent on sending products. This is wrong and is terrible customer service. I have a Brillelli 46 for sale now, anyone want it? I know I would never send it to Brillelli (Scott) for repairs if needed. Because it does not look like you would ever get it back. I have only lost 20 bucks to Scott, I really feel bad for all the guys that paid $400 plus on engines they my never receive.

If any one gets any response from Scott, email , phone call, anything, could you let us know?

Thanks,
Kevin

Scott DOES know Scott's situation. Scott has made promises he's not keeping. BTW, Scott's customers have nothing to do with Scott's reputation.

It is as simple as this.....If you don't have the time, the money, or the manpower to run your business properly then.....GET OUT OF BUSINESS!.......If he continues on this path he will be out of business whether he wants to or not. His business relies on customer service and great products....without either one it will go under in time.

How is that for a little "Fire"

handsonscott,

I too paid up front for a new 46GT last March and your last post sums up my feelings exactly. Again, well said.

So far, two broken delivery promises and counting. Meanwhile, my AW 35cc Extra 300 has been sitting in the corner since May waiting for an engine.

A little HONEST communication from anyone at (Mark)-Brill or (Scott)-elli would go a long way.

I bought a 36 GT last year, had endless problems with it and Scott helped when he could but the thing just never ran right. It's now a piece of junk on my bench with no way to fix it and not one flight. My sympathies with Scott but unfortunately this is exactly how small businesses fail (everyday). My plane still hasn't flown due to all the delays . It's now getting a good old four stroke glow engine.

I believe that the lesson to be learned here ( I learned it a long time ago) is that you should NEVER order anything by mail that is of greater value than what you are willing to just throw away. If you can't afford to just toss away $425.00 then don't order anything worth $425.00. Mail order, particularly small timers, are just not reliable and by their very nature, difficult to deal with when things go wrong.

It's too bad that people seccumb to medical problems (I've had similar problems) but his customers deserve a truthful explanation or he doesn't deserve their business.

It is also posted on his site that he will not be taking anymore orders[ From His Site Until Further Notice Until His backlog Is Filled].It says to email. So if ya email, and you get no answer,it would be safe to assume YOUR NOT GOING TO BUY AN ENGINE!
For all you people that want to buy one go buy somthing else so scott can get his backlog caught up.Your not going to get anything anyway but an unsatisfactory answer or youll be waiting like the rest of the payees..Now the last time somthing like this was happening was when BME got bought out,i hope this isnt true.I have been a customer of scotts since the first 42cc he converted and i was going to buy one of the 36GT.Im going to just convert one now myself,it might be cheaper but i guarentee it will be faster. So,if any of ya want your engine now,go buy the engine and convert it.Just hang in the engineconversion forum for help, this will take a load of off of scott also..I was informed that mark is no longer with brillelli so i stand corrected.I deleted the top part of my post.

I tried to talk my friend out of buying one of these 60's, it was a "darling" during the first EF 88 Yak builds. My friend bit after reading the hype.

He has not had more than 5 flights , with a gas spitting, foul running chainsaw conversion.

His motor needs to be sent in , but, no way,.....maybe he will send it to Ralph.

One (or 2) horse motor shops are a gamble. This just proves it. BME all over again.

One (or 2) horse motor shops are a gamble. This just proves it. BME all over again.
Is he going to risk sending it to a one horse motor shop like Ralph

I'm just kidding as there are exceptions to the rule and Ralph is one of them, as he has been doing what he does best to our little jewels for 18 plus years, and has yet to my knowledge to have bucked the bar. IMO he is a true 'expert' in the service he offers and his workmanship is outstanding, while his work warranties and charge rates are simply unbelievable.

Default RE: Where's Brillelli???

ORIGINAL: buck1856

Heres a pic of the[ Brillelliboyz],also the thread is intitled this.Scott Ellingson is on the left,Mark Brill is on the right. This was also posted by rcign and i believe somone else.Brillelli equals 2,not one man buy himself.[BRILL&ELLI-ngson =Brillelli!]It is also posted on his site that he will not be taking anymore orders[ From His Site Until Further Notice Until His backlog Is Filled].It says to call.So if ya call, and you get no answer,it would be safe to assume YOUR NOT GOING TO BUY AN ENGINE!
So,if any of ya want your engine now,go buy the engine and convert it.Just hang in the engineconversion forum for help, this will take a load of off of scott also.Im going to send him an email and call him and see if i can get through since ive called him numerous times before.I also am going to try somthing else. This picture below i borrowed from the thread.

I am staying away from this thread for obvious reasons... but I think you need to draw the line somewhere. If you don't have your facts straight then you quickly cross lines. Mark has not been a part of Brillelli for maybe a couple years now. He decided engines wasn't his thing and wanted to focus on his machining business which he enjoyed more. The only thing he really does is make the throttle arms for the engines. He did sell a couple odd ball engines last year under the name just because he made a bulk purchase and had 10 engines to blow out.

Have you ever heard Mark answer the phone or return customer calls. Anyone ever read a compliment about customer service about Mark Brill??

So keep pouring gas on the fire.. but do it with factual information

Buck please edit your post so it is factually correct.

Boss: sorry about your luck.. send it to Ralph.. Have one with 60 gallons on it and one with 10.. must be something small.
