One other thing I forgot to comment on, I do not think I am going to keep the natural finish, I think I may be painting it.

Giving up on the natural finish? [] I thought it looked great. I noticed Minwax has a new line of colored stains that look pretty cool, they were "pastelish" red, green, blue, purple, ect, that were still light enough to let the wood show through. I may try one of these on the Wildthing project. Also- if you don't mind I may use your idea for the glass gas tank, again on my Wildthing project...? [8D]
Thanks for the great ideas,
MKM

I got the rest of the deck done on the hull. The next thing I will be starting is building the mold for the hatch cover, it is some what still in the planning stage, and I should have it done some time next weekend if all goes well.

Looks great Harold but as for the natural wood finnish have a look at this boat and maybe it will change your mind a bit, this is Ian Websters boat same boat as yours and mine i love the contrast of the paint on the hull and the natural dark wood look on the deck.

Hi Tony, I will save the mold if it comes off in one chunk! But we will have to cut it down to fit your EV. We will be able figure some thing out. See Tuesday fuelman8.

What part of the boat is the hatch?
Oh maybe hatch is not the right word, lets try canopy, the cover that goes over the cockpit.

I am just making temporary molds to mold a top for the cockpit on this boat, it will be done in four parts, some pics of the first of four parts, and I will be taking this part out of its temp mold today and starting the other three parts for it.

RE: Just Starting a Mono 48" Build
Hi all, I made the cover for the top of the deck in four parts out of fiber glass, I have got all the parts 30 min. epoxy together, I will be cutting out all the openings from the bottom side of the cover. I am going to have a fair amount of bondo work to do to get them blended to the cover. I am not to sure if I like the looks of this cover, but this is all that I could come up with, it will have to do. Here are some pics of cover. Harold

Here is the cockpit cover setting in the hull, I think it looks a bit ugly, what do you all think? I think after it is blended with bondo and sanded and painted it will look better.

Are you gonna put a scoop facing forward in the bouble or leave it like a cockpit? What about flaring it out more towards the edges to get rid of the bouble boy look. Your fiberglass work is great I would just play with the shape a little more. Make it so your happy, that's the most important thing.

Hi Mr. Freeze I am thinking about cutting two or three window like openings in the front of the bauble and laying in some screen on the inside, and yes I do plan on flaring it out some. Thank you for your comment on the fiber glass work, it could be better but I am just doing kwiky job this time. Harold

Bet you all thought I gave up the build. Well no I did not, Bin doing lots of prep work to get it ready for paint. The pics on this post is three coats of primer, the last coat will be wet sanded with 600. Yes Tony and Brian I am going to use the Babel Boy. Harold
