Disconnect the throttle spring. I use Hitec servo for throttle.

I keep thinking the same thing Bob. I do t mind a little wind now and then but there is no sense in this.

I just leave the spring on. I have measured the servo current when I do so and it is almost 0. Of course it rises when the engine is running but that will happen if you take the spring off.
I just use a very small cable that pulls only. I feel it gives me more precise throttle control

I have hooked the spring back up in the work I have done.

Keeping the throttle linkage mass lower reduces vibration damage to the servo as well.
