RE: Tamiya Leopard A4 Re-Release Kit Build Photos
Hi C4ISTAR,
Drop in fit, does it mean no further tinkernig to make it fit?
ORIGINAL: C4ISTAR
Thank you all.
roadcarver, I recommend getting the kit from (best price and service), email them for info: http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/RC%20Tank%20Kits.htm
I got the ''drop in fit'' Tamiya Panther G/Jagdpanther gearboxes, left and right set, from jr-rc on ebay for $68.00 plus mailing fees.
Jason markets tons of Tamiya rc parts on eBay.
http://toys.shop.ebay.com/Radio-Cont...=p3286.c0.m282
More build pictures below and the 1/35 practice paint model in the last photo; and now I am looking for something else, the NATO camo isn't a solution after all.
So, it will stay green for a bit longer until research turns something else up. Some weathering will be the last step.
Take care,
John

Yes, that is correct, no further tinkering required using the Tamiya Panther/Jagdpanther gearboxes.

Searching further for A4 gearboxes, I found this site:
http://www.mitosal.com/transmission_unit.htm
They are selling all stainless steel gears (custom) and it fits the Lepard 1A4, and based ont the description, they're selling as a pair for $127. Not as cheap as Jason at jr_rc though.

Woah, I seemed to have overlooked this new work of art by maestro John. Really nice airbrush and detailing thus far. The depth of the camo alone is striking with much realism already. Can't wait to see the finished product man!

Biggtony. Happy your back back and trust your all healthy again, but I am a student still and here again is the master I study: http://migjimenez.blogspot.com/searc...2F16th%20scale
Actually, my favorite tank finishes are super clean, as if prepared for a home town 4th of July day parade, but we now yeild to forum pressure to make all rc tanks dirty. LOL

A little more weekend work.
And OKthen, next I'll make the road wheels dirty!
And add decals when everything is good and dry.

The Leopard A4 is still field maneuvers dirty, pretty much finished (a few detail parts to be added) and runs great.
Up next is a Tiger II Porsche Turret TBU runner looker.
Enjoy, John

Another fine looking tank and paint job John, I also favor the new/clean looking tanks, some seem to over do the weathering sometimes. Looking forward to the KT Porsche build.

Thank you all.
I like ETO Bob's lowered TBU, so I copied him, since the only place this Leo is going is in my backyard to fight.
And the LED emitter is in the mantlet box housing, working on a removable emitter tube right now for it.

Hi John,
Your build, paint and especially your weathering looks awesome. I will try to bring my 2A6 up to your standard. Thanks for the inspiration.

RE: Tamiya Leopard A4 Re-Release Kit Build Photos
Thank you, but a lot of help from "Martin", a 1/35 fine scale plastic armor master modeler I have known a while is most responsible for showing me how weathering is done, to give credit where credit is due. The Leo transferred out on Saturday to a happy new owner. A Porsche turret Tiger II TBU build is next...

Yes, it was tougher to let this Leo go than I would have guessed, but Karen did let me buy another static Leo 4A kit from her 2 weeks ago! So, more fun is waiting around the corner. John
