I live in the city and there is a construction sight close by i drive my old truck but the reason i cant get nitros cause sometimes we go atv riding and the call the cops so the will defniatly call on a nitro car.but there is like a offroad trail about 1/2 mile away from my house but i cant go there alone(parents what are you gonna do but i am only 15).so im just so confused about the type of truck i want or should i wait till something better comes out.(i really dont want to but i will if i have to)
Hmmm,Unless it is at night the cops cant bust you for driving your Nitro r/c.You can drive at any park,or the streets in front of your house.why wont your parents let you go there alone?

You should read up on your local noise variance laws. I received a warning about running my nitro RC's several years ago, If the city received another complaint then I would get a $500 fine. And I was running them in the middle of the afternoon.

There are some things to keep in mind here. Regardless of what you may believe, it is actually illegal to drive your RC on a road in most places. If it doesn't have a plate on it or a bicycle then it's not legal. That said, no cop is going to waste his time giving someone a ticket for driving an RC on the road unless you're being a hazard to traffic.

Noise is another factor and many cities have a decibel limit as already mentioned.

Most cities also have a by-law preventing the running of anything RC in public parks due to the safety hazard, again, unless someone complains no by-law officer is going to take the time to give you a ticket.

Construction sites are private property so again it would be against a by-law to drive there but as noted above, no one is going to give you a ticket unless you get complaints.

Many of the above also apply to skate boarding but you don't see too many tickets given away for that either.

I just don't run nitro in my area because I don't want to disturb my neighbors

My parents wont let me go cause i have to either cross rail road tracks(literaly like open track and no street just the track and ditch next to it) or walk about 3/4 mile(walk on the side walk around that coonstrucion site im mentioned earlier) to get their cause the short way is 1/4 and the long way is 3/4 mile so there like hell no its to dangerous in the city so yeah its all part of beeing a teen i guess but it is jkinda dangerous gettin there but we have so much fun win we take our quads their (we ride them over their).

i have the same debate but its BL e revo vs. savage flux. i really like the savage but the e-revo looks alot more stable. the summit looks cool but theres so much more to break w/ the trans and diffs. i'd seriously take that into consideration OP, this being your 1st hobby grade your goin down a rough road with that much possible breakage. my 1st is/was a vendetta st and it's kicked my azz having to learn/replace stuff. between parts, upgrades, batteries etc..your initial investment will triple in a few months if you bash it hard, i'd also take that into consideration. my "cheap" little 160.00 truck has turned into 500+ since june (and ive only been home w/ it 2 of those months total.)

Due to a multitude of deleted posts, I fee a need to reiterate... Religion and politics are not to be discussed on RCU for any reason.

Back on topic please folks. Thanks.

Im not settling i want a 4wd mt nothing else.

piddlefoot:
Problem with the Summit is it controls like the bucketo crap itis........We see them at the track, l hope you dont want to keep upwith Tmaxx's or Revo's or Flux's cause you aint gunna.
The summit IS NOT as strong. It is a cheap design, be careful.
Abrushless E revo is 700ish bucks, plus 40$ postage, the difference isquite unbelieveable, the speed is alot better and control is, LOL !
Sheesh sry man was only tryin to save ya some money long term, l got the summit mixed up with the stampede, sorry my bad !
Of the two your looking at get the summit.

So piddle said the stampede sucks and summit pwns
beside i cant get nitro

If you're looking for something fast I don't suggest you get a Summit, cause it ain't.

I'd get either an E-Revo or 4wd Slash.

l say revo aswell, there really is no comparison, you can water proof any car with a little patience.
Revo has the best of everything, speed control, ability to go places with control at  speed that no other can.

Reliability will be pretty much the same, after market price and range revo will be the better, fun factor, well the revo can DO more in more places so lm gunna vote revo for fun, and maintenance there gunna be about the same, UNLESS , lol, you try and drive the summit like its a revo, hahaha, then its gunna get expencive for repairs !

l would buy another revo, over a summit , for 2 reasons ,first l have a few nitro revo's lve killed over the years from stupid insane high jumps,so l have alot of spare parts, 2nd reason, they are just so good, a real pleasure to drive, more thought  has gone into MT revo than any other MT in its scale in my opinon.
Revo for its money its an awsome machine, the summit is more of a snow machine from what l can tell, and probably would perform a little better in them conditions because of its lower gearing.

Get one !

Hello im new to this forum and i gonna get an eletric 4wd monster truck soon and this is gonna be my first hobby grade truck so can some one tell me whether i should get the summit, emaxx or something else cause when i bash...i BASH HARD like parts breakin all the time so i need somthing tough.Oh and by the way i had this slow radio shack hummer so defnitley somthin faster than 15 mph.
Back to topic

ok so u have a radio shack hummer yeah, & u "BASH HARD like parts breakin all the time" so how did u get replacement parts for the hummer???????

how fast did u want it? is a summit really fastenuff for u?(maby check youtube YOURSELF), electric brushed motors are old new's, thay are slowly bieen fased out, i personally wouldent invest in a brushed r/c car, u will regrett it in a few years when everything is brushless. I cant stress how outdated brushed motors are thay cant compare to the highly efficent & powerfull brushless motors. its like comparing a Nicd to a Lipo.

nitro motors are very reliable now days provided thay are tuned correctly.

u should be thinking what u want in the motor not the chassis yet,
brushed motor, out dated these days, good for steering servos, not for a r/c car motor, good for scale slow crawling drains battery very fast

brushless motor, good-crazy preformance, lots of setup points, sealed waterproof motors, if u have a good esc & know your gear ratio u can easly pick a motor for a desired speeds, extreemly powerfull & very efficent, only problem batterys dont last long, not something u could bash most of the day unless u had a heaps of charged batterys, (does anyone know normal runtimes? im thinkin 10min)

Nitro motor, not as idiot proof as electric, but has a great sound, better wow factor from onlookers, & great for bashing, reciver batterys last for ages & all u need if fuel, ive run mine for nearly a hole day with a brake after every 2 tanks.

so really how fast did u want it & how long would u bash for? is a brushed motor fast enuff for u?

i never got aprts i do home repairs on it and now the esc is fried and the motor is fried to and the body is comin off and now its time for a new truck but i was thinkin about get a summit and buying a used erevo later on or vice versa or maybe buy  both new but i doubt that so i pplanned on gettin a summit and a erevo 1/16. but to answer your questions.

brushed motor  is to slow for me

brushless motor
is kinda expensive but very cool(vxl is the best way for traxxas stuff)

Nitro motor,  has a great sound, but it depend how loud nitros are if there over about 85 decibles then its to loud for where i live cause are atvs are about 90 and they call the cops

But then again i would like to bash for about half hour plus before im satisfied so nitro would be good but the noise is really important to me. if i could get nitro i would get a savage xl or the revo 3.3 5309
