It's sold as it's in route to me.

You beat me to it. Marking that sold was on the list for tonight. I'll be interested to see the build when you get to it.

Default WTB: HL T-72 Original/Non-ERA

I’ve searched high and low and cannot locate an original NIB HL T-72 (without ERA…) for sale. any ideas or offers?

I suppose I could fill holes, make a water spade, etc but why bother?… I just wanna make a Finnish T-72. thank you for listening to my woes.

Have you tried Toucan? They have multiple sellers pimping out of their US warehouse with quite a few older Heng long models sittin on a shelf

I think HL discontinued the non-ERA version in favor of the ERA one.

Good point — I should reach out to them and other high volume retailers and see what I can shake out. hadn’t really thought to try that… thank you!

pretty sure you are correct. they probably do not manufacture them anymore. I’m hoping to find one tucked away somewhere or otherwise collecting dust.

The one on ebay has the metal hull. The one in the photo I posted has metal tracks and roadwheels, but not the metal hull. Not sure about the one from hobby hobby, but I think it's all plastic.

You still have to be careful relying on pics on web sites. The part numbers for the T72 seem to be 3839 and 3839-1. From what I've seen online, the pics are all over the place matched with both part numbers. Wouldn't surprise me if Heng Long sends the new version when someone orders the old one. Best to contact the seller directly to ensure you are getting the old one.

That's very good advice, especially for the more expensive versions, and I highly recommend you use paypal. They've saved my bacon more than once.

Thank you, Crius and Tankme! I will definitely reach out to sellers first (excellent advice). I ran into the same issues with the pics and shared model number. thank you all again for your advice and links to leads.

Hi Everyone,

I still have the 1/6 Dragon M4A3 Sherman kit and a 1/6 T23 Turret for Sale. I'm reducing the M4 kit price to $500.00 and $300.00 for the T23 Turret buyer pays shipping. I can sell them together or separately. I will accept USPS Money Orders, or a Certified Bank Check (CBC) for either item. I will ship the next day if paid with a USPS Money Order, and payment with CBC will have to clear before I ship the item purchased. I can get a new price from UPS to ship these items. But if you want either of these items have a cheaper shipping source it's OK with me.

If anyone is interested PM me. Here a link to my listing here at RCU. 1/6 Scale Dragon M4A3 Sherman Model Kit NIB

Ok folks I'm having a sale: 10% off any one or two items in the list; 15% off if you want any 3 items. The prices are already pretty good I'm told
so this should even make them better. Of course postage is in addition to anything.

If it's not on the list it's not available. (!)

The LIST: 1/16 scale kits for sale!!

Hey Guys, I'm kinda surprised I still have these two built Tamiya full option Big Cats, but I do, so it's time to sweeten the deal. First is a Tiger One

and second is the Biggest Cat, the King Tiger

These were well built and have been tested, all you need is the rx/tx and a battery.

$500 for either one, $900 for BOTH, and as usual, that's plus actual shipping cost.

Hey Marko, mato has a set with track cable and both tow cables for just under $18. I would also try aliexpress as they might have a better price. Then there's Imex, you'd have to email John, the new tank tech. If you need an email address for him, let me know.

What is a good replacement for a Tamiya ESC Mixer? I think I may need one….

Back in the mid-late 1990s, I bought the first re-release version of the Tamiya 1/16 M4A3 105mm Sherman when it suddenly reappeared on the market. This was Tamiya’s first release of the Sherman that came with two electric motors and gear boxes, controlled by a new electronic mixer. (Replacing the early 1980-ish version with a single electric motor and two clutches.). I was able to use a cheap 2 channel boat-style radio, with a vertical access stick for fwd/reverse and a horizontal stick for left/right steering.

My plan was to build an RC landing craft to carry it around. I built and ran the tank, but never got ‘round to building the boat.

I dug it out last night- it had been in storage since the last time I ran it, probably in 2006 or so. It is in excellent shape, no corrosion or decay. I put batteries in the Tx and a new 7.2v pack and tried it out on my cement basement’s floor. It was running just like it used to- at first. I ran it for a about a minute, forward and reverse, with no trouble. Then it started to stutter - like power was intermittently cutting out. I checked the Tx and Rx batteries- they were good.

I did some more testing on the bench- it was doing pretty much all the time. I suspect the old (sealed) mixer/ESC controller may be faulty.

What woud be a decent replacement for this? I only need 2channels- my old tank doesn’t have a moving turret. I looked online didn’t find an obvious replacement….

I could go find a pair of ESCs and a mixer to let me keep using my old 2ch RC boat- style radio, but I liked the simple plug and play way the original one worked….

Any recommendations?

Take a look at the Sabertooth, by Dimension Engineering. But why would you need two ESCs for a boat? One esc for the motor and a servo for rudder, right?
