BOTH are VERY good radios. I think it is just ones choice.

Hey Darrin- The long pipes was the reason the CG was off ( according to the manual ) It actually balanced in the 3D range so we left it alone. Fist flights were AWSOME! No bad tendencys. See my thread in Composite ARF Yak ? page 8

DKjens,
I've had both my 35% Extras go in , one was 30lb the other was 19lb. They where the exact same plane, the lite one flew incredible and was a joy to fly in any wind, the heavy one was miserable in every aspect.
When they went in they where both complete losses, so I'll stick to my lite planes.
Vicster,
Was your balance issue due to the long pipes? How far back did your CG end up being? In the 3D range or way back?

Dude, its probably the coolest thing I have seen in person.. I still cant believe how bit this bird is! I can not wait to fly it, thats for sure!! Glad I went this way.
Thanks Bob!
And thanks to Bob Shapiro and Darcy Wingo for the help on getting this bad boy!
I wish I had a pic of the crowd around it from this weekends event, it was a hit!

Hello John
When I received my first Yak I had the same question, so I called Andy Kane and he told me that the 5" was the size to use, I have been running that size ever since. However I have never used the wheel pants.[8D]

John,
With a plane that big, I think looking in Hobby Shops is the wrong place for tires. Try Goodyear!!!!! That is seriously cool.

Just finished one in the Shulman Scheme with a RCS 215, it came in at 42.9 pounds, no smoke. Since I am at 5000ft, I run it with a bit of nitro 3-5% and it turns the 34/12 at 5200 which is about max for the motor. I am going to make a 3 blade 34/10 , I think the engine has enough torque to turn it. It will fly everything except a long hover close to the ground since it won't just fly out if something goes wrong.
