RE: Where to get a Roo Fuselage?
heck yeah it'll work amigo. you've got more power in the P8o than you know what to do with. I would add some triangle gussets or L brackets to the landing gear plates and tie both of the formers together by connecting them with 1/4" dowels. trim off the excess length of screws protruding from the retract mounts.
you better have her ready by the 22nd 'cause we're going flying on Sat!! maybe we can get JT to bring out the Ultra B also.
cheers

Smoke on! .......... I mean, Nose on! .......
This thing is pregnant with aeropoxy. Buck, I did exactly what you suggested except instead of using dowels I used plywood which also gave me some more anchor points for the skin as well.

RE: Where to get a Roo Fuselage?
Alright, time to put the stuff in tonight and tomorrow. Test flights on Thursday with Joey at the sticks.
It's alive! [X(]
Thanks everyone for all the support and encouragement (esp. CarsII and Mark LaCosta) - I would have probably just thrown this thing in the trash! [:@] She's gotta be good for a few more flights now!
Oh yeah, it's also nice to know that there's a big box with a new Rookie in it waiting for me!

RE: Where to get a Roo Fuselage?
Thanks Gary. Looking back I could've just kept Buck in the dark He doesn't come back until Saturday. Of course I would have had to explain the Smurf paint job and the soviet style "weathering"
BTW... are you up for Waco in a few weeks? Ron was saying 29th ?
And Steven if you're following this...... I've got a controlled landing ending in a complete stop on the runway for you

Good to see the Roo has been repaired! It is a collector's item, after all. This will be a building weekend for me, so I'll have to pass on the jet flying. But I'll bring the pointy nose airplane to Waco the following weekend. [8D]

RE: Where to get a Roo Fuselage?
nice work amigo. congrats on a successful re-build.
I would paint the canopy white to provide differential colors between top and bottom. Might also help keep the innards cool by reflecting some of the summer heat.
looking forward to flying this weekend but gonna have to pass on Waco following weekend.

Buck did a great job test flying "The Smurf" tonight. I can't believe that ugly thing flies! At least now Elvis doesn't have the ugliest plane in town

RE: Where to get a Roo Fuselage?
yeah cars, it's ugly but i may take some time to heal it up a little now that i know it is good for some more flights. i put so much time into repairing it i just couldn't spend one more minute on it not knowing if it was going to feel the same. i haven't flown it yet but buck says it's just like it was before!
i just undid all the linkages and "zeroed-out" all the trims and sub trims, mechanically centered everything, and hooked it back up. it will be more honest now without all kinds of b.s. dialed in for this and that. so anyways, hopefully some more flights this week and weekend -
my rookie is waiting on me but i don't want to punch her in the nose too - so i'll just fly the roo until it won't stay together anymore and then i'll stuff the rookie.
thanks again, like i said, i would have just thrown it in the trash and sold the wings!

RE: Where to get a Roo Fuselage?
SELL THE WINGS!!!!!!!
I will probably be the first in line to buy them as I had a mishap on my Roo last Sunday, on my second attempt to TO it took off to the right and went strait for the starting turbines box, the right wing hit the frame of it and wala!!!! I got more repairs to do this weekend, it end up with a 6" split on the center section of the right wing leading edge and a crack on the left wing tip, all because the nose steering servo ( metal ) lost some teethes on the plastic gear and when I try to correct on TO for drift it did not responded at all allowing the airplane to veer to the right all the way and also the brakes went out at the same time, the problem there was a leaking O ring brake ( new, first time on the tarmac ).
Oh well, it has to fly by next Sunday, it just has to.
