Well I got to get a couple more flights on my Patty tonight with the 54.

I did also get a chance to check out a PT 22x8 on her and she turns at a solid 7160 when its 98F outside. Ran very good and strong and these props def. spin up nicely. Extremely light (.5oz more than wood) and pull like no tomorrow.

In the hot heat I was able to hover the Patty just over 1/2 throttle and with decent pull out. I was a couple miles high so it was hard to see but ran very well. I dont want to do much low until this engine gets a full chance to break in... with 3/4s of a gallon so far its running great!

looking good!

I was out today again.. I just couldnt resist

Today I tried an NX 22x8 on it... turned 6980 and it was 99F / 107F with humidity. I think I like the NX on it seemed to pull a bit harder. The engine is def. taking a beating in all this heat (as is the pilot - sunburnt) but it just keeps on rocking

Finally had a nice cool day well semi cool day at 82 with little humidity. The best part about this was I really got the see the 54 perform without all that crazy heat.

Not that she was a slacker before.... but now I have hit the 1.5 gallon mark and less heat this engine is very impressive. I have an official weight on my Patty today at 16.5 pounds. Since I have 3 heavy battery packs in there I have decided to put Patty on a diet with new lightweight packs and some CF all around. However even at 16.5 pounds this plane is a rocket with this 54. Since the engine is running so well and breaking in nicely I am slowly bringing down the hovers and I can tell you she is pulling out nicely already. Hovers at 1/2 throttle.

Considering the 60 is a bit lighter then the 54 and more powerful I can only imagine how strong that engine is. So far I give Brillelli's new engine line a big thumbs up on Power, Performance, and Price.

Notice the price is last... its cheaper then others out there true... but the performance is great. You are not getting a "cheaper engine" you are getting a quality engine for a very good price. The customer service is just an added bonus

Singery,

What type os servo are you using for the choke on the 54? I have the Brillelli 60 and I need to hook-up a servo to it also. How is the video coiming. I'd love to see it.

Hey Jim,

I sent you a pm... but the short version is I am not using a choke servo.

I was out again today Can't tell you how well the engine is performing I tac'd it and we are up to 7080 now and I am still quite a bit rich. I have another plane I bought that came with a taurus engine and they call for 50:1 so I am running 50:1 lawnboy on the 54 as well. I decided to keep it on the rich side since it's still breaking in and its running so well.

So far I am close to the 2 gallon mark on the engine spread out across many flights and I have yet to have a dead stick or any real hiccups with the engine. Even at very low idles during tumbles and snaps it just keep humming along. I have even let a couple friends bring her down near the deck in hovers now that the engine is fairly broken in.

Guys at the field make fun of me because I keep getting so high but it just keep climbing so well I just want to let it touch the clouds

As for the video.. that is happening this weekend so will be posted next week.

Jake,

Thanks for the feed back. I'll try and figure out something with the choke because I really don't want to use a servo for the choke unless I have to.

I like hearing about how nice you 54 is running for you. I hope my 60 does as good.

Jim - permit a different perspective comment on the choke issue - I make them servo operated simply because it gives me an easy shutoff mode if there is an inflight problem. If you don't do it with a choke, you really need to do one of the electronic kill devices, IMO.

A sixty-powered something needs to be able to have the pilot kill the motor on demand. I'd really recommend considering it.

I have some funky old JR something or other on mine, a 517 or 537 or some such.... in the pics a few posts back, the nylon clevis is attached to a simple metal rod back to the nylon servo arm... no metal to metal, and it's a good, positive shutoff.

Bob,

This is very good infomation and I think I will now install the servo on the choke. It is a good idea to be able to shut down a engine of this size on command.

Jake,

Did you get you video done?. I am really looking forward to seeing it. My Cap-232 is almost done. I can only work on it a little each night, but I hope to have the Cap finished by this weekend. Here are a few pic's of it. She should weight in at 16lbs with the Brillelli 366GT as a power plant.

Man I swear us getting video is cursed.

My buddy's wife went away for the weekend (which is why we could fly all weekend... my wife had things to do as well)... needless to say he went to get it Sunday morning because it was the perfect blue sky day. Turns out his wife decided to take it with her.

I am waiting on some money and then I am going to buy a cam anyhow.. that way no more excuses.

I can tell you now though that I am at the 4gallon mark with the 54 and it hasn't skpped a beat just getting stronger

Cap is looking good! Weight will be good as well.. should be a good weekend

Well I finally got to test run the Brillelli 60cc this weekend and boy what a monster for power. I only have about 1/2 gallon of fuel run threw it so far and I am getting 7300RPM with a Xoar 23x8 prop. I know I am getting well over 30lbs of thrust. My Cap-232 weighs in a just over 17lbs so I should have plenty of power. I will be doing the maiden flight this Thrusday.

Well I still dont have video [:-] but the good news is that I should have a cam next week or 2 tops. My friend with the cam has dropped of the face of the earth the last month.

Anyhow... a little update here and some still pics from today. am up to roughly 7.5 gallons ( I think 8 but say 7.5 to be safe) and this thing runs stronger then ever and idles like a dream. I have nothing but great things to say about these engines so far. While I have only had it since July there aren't many people who put almost 8 gallons of gas through a plane in 2.5 months or so.

Todate this engine has not skipped a beat and served me really well. The point here is.. although the 60 hasnt been out that long I cant see how anyone would over look this engine or be unhappy with it's performance. I am beating the heck out of it and it doesnt even notice.

I will have some video asap but I got a friend to use my dig cam and grab some pics. Couple are kinda blurry because he doesnt know my cam well and it was a windy day so it was hard to keep it still long enough for a pic. My cam has a 3 sec delay from the push of the button so its a bit of a pain.

Pic's look good, mainly because I can see your havin too much FUN!!! haha
8 gal's in 2.5 months.. That's just awesome. I'm jealous.
Anyways good to see it working so well. I have a Brillelli 46cc in a Goldburg Extra 330 that's i'll soon have flying, maybe before winter fully sets in. I'm wanting a new Extreme Flight Yak 87" 50cc class when they come out in early 2007 and thinking the Brillelli GT366 would be a great combo for it.

I recently sent my 46cc Brillelli back to Scott to have all his updated mods done to it. I had gotten one of his very first model's from the original guy who bought it. Couldn't be happier with the customer service he gave me.

Did we ever get a true RTF weight of a DA-50? If so I missed it. sorry.

Sinergy: I've seen on RCU where you say that the 366GT is (.13 lbs) or ( a couple of ounces) more weight than a DA-50. This may be true if you compare the Da with a heavy muffler and the 366GT with a light muffler. Well the truth is there is at least a 8 ounce difference in weight if the stock muffler is used on the DA. My Da-50 and standoffs weigh 51 ounces, the ignition weighs 3,7 ounces and the muffler weighs 5.3 ounces (I do not have a definite weight on my muffler so the weight given came from TBM website). For a total of 60 ounces.
