Hmmmmmm??

Does sound practical. I may have to give top secret a call and see if they are willing to exchange them for me.
The pains of learning a new hobby.

Thanks for the tip, I will study this further.

And yes, I ordered the pipes.

What the good news is that since the hull has such a wide platform you do not need to counter rotate one engine, agian you will need the struts for proper tracking, what i would do is order two struts with skegs and see which setup works better. I am doing this on my lightning cat build, i ordered the speedmaster strut without a skeg but i also ordererd just the strut itself with the skeg. This way i can do some testing and see what works better. I hope this helps,

Yes it does, I sent an e-mail to top secret boats to see if they are willing to exchange the parts.
I'm sure they will, I would probably just have to pay shipping plus the difference in cost. I hope.

Hey Otto/Kevin,

I found it, anodized tubing, here I come.

Just curious if anyone reading this thread has used that alum tubing yet ? Seems with a vibrating engine , and a motionless fuel cell , there would be some fatigue there ..

Otto has it in the drifter but uses tubing to make the connection from the aluminum to the fitting.
I'm planning on using it in my cyclone. Kevin is also using it in another boat he is presently building.
I've only seen it as a hardline along the stringers and then connected with tubing to the fittings.
I plan on bending my stainless steel tubing along the stringer and get it as close to the fitting as possible but I'm still gonna use tubing to make the connection.

use short peices of flex tubing for the conections

Its all about looks.

OK,
Stringers are glassed in, engines are centered And propped up at the angle of install.
Before I actually start drilling, what do you think.

Haven't checked the carbs yet, I will be getting in the pipes on thursday. I want to mock it all up before I drill them in place.
They say "patience is a virtue" Damn that FedEx guy.

Thanks Ultimate48, What do you guys think about the above link for the anodized tubing.

Also, Warehouse hobbies has announced in-house anodizing for everyone I think.
Check out the bottom of their website.

By the way, overall length of the hull is 59".

installed the carbs for a test fit and have about 1/8" clearance. Pretty tight.
Here are some dimensions for those who are interested.

No wrenching, still waiting for the pipes. I will have to make a phone call to see whats up. I know the cooling
manifold is coming today.
I did install the rudder though.

I hate waiting for parts, drives me crazy.

not really sure why no one else has mentioned this yet but 1/8 inch distance between both carbs is NOT enough ..

Both carbs will be competing for air at WOT . Now , if this is the distance between those useless vel stacks , then , thats a simply fix . loose the Vel stacks .

the carbs are not next to each other, What i meant was that the carb stack has an 1/8"
clearance from the hatch cover to the top of the stack. I dont think it should be a problem tho.
Take a look at the mockup above and you may see what I mean.

Thanks for the input, always happy to learn what I can.

Ok, next update.
While I'm waiting for the pipes to get here, It was driving me crazy that the hatch was an 1/8 of an inch wider than the opening to the hull.
So I pulled out my trusty dremmel and cut a slit along the entire front and two sides of the hatch, then I fiberglassed them back together with some 6oz
cloth, lined the hull with some plastic tape and shoved the hatch in place to dry to shape. Now there even may be some room for paint.

Here are some pics.
