RE: The Official "F" Integy Thread
It takes a lot of testicular fortitude for a rep from Integy to come on here and try and resolve the issue! Kudo's to you Bill. This forum represents what I believe to be the largest segment of our hobby in one place. Coming in here and working with a single customer on one issue goes a long way towards setting Integy's reputation right.
Years ago I had an Integy discharger. It worked flawlessly - probably still does. So, several years ago when I was making an RC18 into a carpet car I found a few pieces of aluminum from Integy that I thought would help with the project. Unfortunately, the aluminum was very soft and couldn't take the abuse of racing. Reading various posts on this forum over the last several years showed me that I was far from alone in my experience. Its a common complaint.
Bill, I realize that just about every R/C company out there often struggles to stay afloat. But Integy's reputation has really suffered over the last 3-4 years and I think someone there needs to take a step back and reconsider the business philosophy. Integy seems to have placed the most importance on getting its parts out there for the absolute cheapest price possible. Integy has succeded in that, but at what cost? Making a more affordable product at the cost of quality is not the right way, IMO.
I would urge you to go to the "powers that be" and show them the results of a search of "Integy" on this forum. They won't like what they see. And remember - this is without question the largest demographic of people in this hobby. What you find here will be a very good representation of Integy's notoriety.

RE: The Official "F" Integy Thread
We do make a lot of different parts and our production people are constantly improving the product lines. There are different new releases from the company that use stronger materials such as real titanium alloy, 7075 grade aluminum. Some of them can take serious abuses and they're near indestructible ... Ex. titanium skid plates for T-Maxx, Revo, titanium bumper set for T-Maxx, Evolution-3 series for Revo and so forth. These parts does cost quite a bit more and they are less popular, we do recommended them for distributors and dealers. I don't know what else to tell you except that it does take us a little long to get back to customers lately and the shop is extremely busy keeping up with the product demand. Dealers and distributor orders have increased more than 200% from 2005 to 2007. Our resellers often want the less expensive items to maintain their fast turnover and higher profit margin. Maybe for this reason, our super strong parts are available only from us a few online stores.
There are changes happening already, the company uses various oversea sub-contractors/partners and a few of them have more than 15 CNC machines. It's really a big overall operation and out of all the vendors, we already eliminated several of them because they wouldn't upgrade to a stronger material. So, I think you folks will see things change very soon. The Evolution-3 T-Maxx/Revo line, 8ight, TC5, GT2 and revised RC18T parts will all be using premium grade material. Everyday, I recommend customers to get our new releases made with stronger material, some specific items are basically made for Show Truck only, the so-called Shelve Queen; it's just the nature of the part, material and application ... for example, don't install alloy body posts on your T-Maxx or Revo and expect them to survive an 8 ft. jump, they just won't hold up no matter what. For product recommendations for your specific vehicle(s) please e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll try my best to answer your question. E-mails can be filtered as Spam from time to time, use our Help Desk ticket system by using the following link:

yea...those parts are strong, TOO STRONG. hit something and it breaks every other part. what you guys should do is make like front bulkheads, chassis, top plates etc etc that have less of a chance of breaking something else in a crash. either that or find a way to make more forgiving parts cuz its alot better to replace a $5 part than a bunch of $5 parts

I am not saying that Integy purposefully makes an inferior product because it can do so cheaply and make a huge profit on it. But it almost sounded like you did.

I sent in a charger that I had purchase from them for some repairs and after a while I had not heard back from them about it. So I tried call and emailing them with no luck.
I had planned a trip to Disneyland with my family and one of the morning while we were there I drove to their location and with some confusion, they found my charger, I paid for it and hopefully won't have to deal with them again.

RE: The Official "F" Integy Thread
I am back from a vacation and I saw that Bill from Integy took the time to reply to my thread here, so I figured I would comment on it. First I would like to say it is impressive that he took the time to come here and reply at all. All it took was my sending him an email with the thread link and telling him how bad his company sucks to get him to pay any attention to my concerns. I want to state a fact here, I am not upset with Integy, what you see here is my frustration with getting Integy to show any concern with my issues that I am having with their products. The Integy servo I was using worked great, but as soon as something went wrong with it my problem was with Integy not the product. It took a month for me to get any form of an answer from Bill at Integy. That was just the start of my frustration. The parts of the email Bill posted here is about 25% of the total conversation we had through email. He failed to post the emails where I DID ALL THE TROUBLE SHOOTING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM WITH MY SERVO. He also failed to mention his comment to me when I asked him what he wanted me to do to resolve my issue with a stripped servo gear and he told me to JB Weld it. Bill showed little concern to my questions and attempts to resolve the issue. I must have asked him a dozen times to sell me the gears to rebuild the servo, but he kept telling me how servos do not last and I need to purchase another one. Keep in mind I never asked Bill for anything for free, I was almost begging him to sell me the gears and he was doing anything he could think of to avoid it. How sad is that? I hope you can feel my frustration with Integy. If you want to feel it for yourself, just go out and purchase one of their products, once it breaks you will know exactly what I am talking about. I would like to throw out these questions for Bill to answer for all of us.....
1. Why cant someone at Integy answer their phone? You can call all day long and they never answer a single phone call. Why have a phone if your not going to answer to deal with your customer concerns?
2. Why cant you answer your tickets on your web site in a timely manner like you claim you do? You say 24 hours, why did it take me a week to get a reply?
Your customer service is horrid. I run a marketing and sales department, if I neglected the customers the way Integy does, we would be out of business. My issues to date have still not been resolved with Integy. Let it be known, if you purchase Integy products and have a problem, this is exactly what you can expect also.

Why even sell parts if they know are not much good? At least put a warring on them saying for show only! I got my belly full of them years ago and will never go back. I tried YEARS ago to work something out and basically told be to get lost. If they are so busy just think what they would be doing if all there parts where quality and they had good customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![X(][X(][X(]
I have no idea how they got me on there spam list but it all most took an act of congress to get off it.

The fact that you race and have more than 14000posts on RCU is why they got you on their spam list
Seriously, I agree with you 100%. Integy needs to get back to what put them in the light to begin with: quality tools. They need to purchase more of their own manufacturing capabilities and make the stuff here in america, not outsource it. Out-sourcing is one reason why the American economy is not a bullish as it could be (like during the 50s). Too much of the manufacturing is going to China, India, and elsewhere and in return, inferior products are coming back but these companies insist we pay just a little less the original price for a much poorer product! If Integy is too busy with back orders, they must hire more help! If they do not have enough machinery, buy mass production CNC manufactuing tooling! That is how any proper business expands and grows. It would be stupid for a tailor to insist on using hands and needles and thread when the demand requires that he uses an automated loom!
(NOTE: I am strictly speaking economically here, please do not take anything here as referring to politics or governmental policies. I am stressing only the economical decisions of businesses and the economical effects and how it relates to us, the RC fans.)
Additionally, with the manufacturing capacity directly under their eye, they can inspect the quality themselves and not have to trust a Chinese sub-contractor who is making crap for them and thus dragging thier name down. If Integy must use such sub-contractors, if they make substantard stuff, Integy should be very quick to fire them. If the sub-contractor is contracted to use 7075 alum, Integy needs to inspect the final product to make sure it is 7075. Chinese companies are notorious for cutting way too many corners and substituting inferior materials for what they say it is supposed to be. Integy needs to verify the materials are to specs and crack down on the sub contractors and say "You cheated us and our customers! You are fired!" I will have absolute repect for Integy if they held their sub-contractors to strict business standards and fire those who screw them over.
If they can make quality stuff, even if it costs as much as a Mugen product, I will buy it. Integy has no excuse for poor quality; they made great tools that were praised, they threfore can make other quality products. We as western RC consumers must demand that from any company, not just from Integy, quality products that we are due. At this point, I am fed up with the cheap crap that hits the shelves. I personally will gladly pay $50 for a quality wrench set than the inferior wrenches that are actually no better than Fisher Price's "My First Tool Set"

RE: The Official "F" Integy Thread
Thanks for the heads up guys. I've been into RC cars forever (I'm 40 now !!) and have recently gotten back into it after about an 6 year layoff. Bought my daughter an RC18MT and WAS looking for hop up parts from Integy for it. I'm going to look elsewhere now.

Bill, thank you for coming to the forum and presenting your side of the story. It is about time we here from you guys, especailly since many have trashed Integy products everywhere.
While you are presenting your side, it is also time to open your books and present to us how you guys do business. Just who are your sub-contractors? Fire them if they do not make stuff to acceptable specifications. What are your quality control protocols? If it is non-existent, hire more help. Also, do not rely on those shady over-seas manufacturers.
Look what is happening to Matell, Fisher Price, Colgate, and even drug companies who outsorced their manufacturing to Chinese sub contractors: They make nothing but crap and send them to the West to poison the consumers! Not only are these sub-contractors doing such dispicable and wretched things, they are breaking the laws of their OWN LANDS!
I implore you, buy more CNC machines and do the work yourselves. Hire more personnel. Yes, it will be much more expensive to do so than to pay a shady sub-contractor, but I will gladly buy quality products from you knowing that it is made directly by you guys and not some hack sub-contractor. For a well designed shock set that costs $250 and that is up to proper materials and production quality standards, I will gladly pay that instead of the $125 "Show Shocks" that are so weak as to be un-functional for actual driving rigors.

if i see an integy product that said made in America, id be the 1st to buy it only cuz our fellow Americans made it and the quality most likely will be worth the price tag. i think you guys could revive the company and change the minds of all of us, if you ditch the sub-contractors

No offense taken Tusar. I am posting here as a log so anyone who reads it can see this is NOT a one time thing. Integy continually shows me why I will never purchase another product from them. If this saves one person from making the mistake of buying one of their products only to find out that their customer service and products are sub-par, I will feel that I did my part.

RE: The Official "F" Integy Thread
I also hope that Bill and others from Integy see the development of these threads. Thier business decisions have shown to us that they are not the best. But if Integy were like HPI, they will actually read the net and look to improve what everyone gripes about.
For example, when the first Savage X came out, there was a big stink about the chassis plates not being reinforced engough under the engine mount; thus the slightest bend there resulted in a permantly bad mesh. HPI saw this on the net and promptly redesigned the chassis plates to be stronger. HPI also improved the diffs, the tranny box, and more. They are progressive to customer inputs and because of that, I will continue to buy HPI gear, even though it might be more expensive than other stuff.

The only way I got them to respond was to send Bill a link to this thread. Maybe that has to be done again? I would bet he has not checked back since the day he posted here.

Absolutely, you, others, and I are the end users and potential customers. Integy should be appraised of how they are viewed and they should read these thrads as often as possible to see what they need to do to get back on track when it comes to producing proper RC parts.
Again, they need to FIRE their sorry sub-contractors; I bet these shady overseas folks are the cause of inferior products and materials, and maybe even toxins that could plague us, the RC fans.

RE: The Official "F" Integy Thread
I have used many brand name products for my T-MAXX and have done research to see what I can get the best bang for my buck. I am partially disabled and have fixed income so my dollar needs to get something that looks good but functions even better. I have some integy products and never had a problem, of course I didn't get the a-arms which in my opinion are first too soft and bend easy, second I have seen them also too hard and snap on landings but mostly the domino effect of having aluminum a-arms; cause damage to everything that they are connected to like linkage, hub carriers a-arm pins and rims. Anyway, I have come to find that combining aluminum parts with composite parts have stopped the domino effect. I also must say that if the product companies would give us physical limit specs on their product then just maybe I would not bend, snap or strip the EXPENSIVE part I bought. I have gone out on a limb and started buying products from companies that are small start-up entities or companies like: Duratrax who makes some sweet Hop-Ups and cheep too (I got the Evader ST with all the hop-ups I could buy and fabricate my self, it's RAD), Power Racing ( They make a T-MAXX clone for $200 RTR, It was my intro to nitro and T-MAXX), Powerline Racing ( I got a set of Alum bulkheads and Dif case). Oh! You have to check out RCONE, they have some cool stuff and cheep too, one of my LHS (Tower Hobbies) carries a select few of their items. I love the RC hobby and tend to fabricate my own stuff that will function the way God intended. lol Though, if I do use Integy I do find my self not getting as crazy as not to bend anything. I guess that could be why I haven't had any problems. I only have Integy fuel Filter on my T-MAXX now and it works great!! Ha! Ha! As for Integy Public Relation and Service Dept. they need more help with the phones and not over seas I hope. It would benefit the Co. if they had people who could help with out promoting JB weld. So everyone good luck with all mods and a buddy of mine just gave me a gift of a set of 8 integy MSR5 piggyback shocks so wish me luck. I hope I don't have to JB weld them to my MAXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Integy, and even other RC companies, need to be absolutely sure that their final products are up to specs. That means that as soon as the ships from China docks, Integey needs to break a crate open, take out a random product, and test it to make sure the sub-contractor did the correct job. This also means testing the materials for proper composition. If it is not to specs and worse, contains toxins, Integy needs to fire these guys and SUE them!

i just read this whole 4 page thread, WOW i have a few things to say.
1. people are asking why you dont answer your phones?? and you say you guys are a very busy company? maybe thats true, sounds like you guys need to hire more people Like a normal company would do, not just let your customers hangin. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVEYTHING, read this again and again until you understand bill, you guys should lean over on your back for your customers REPLACING BROKEN OR DEFECTIVE PARTS!!! FREE AT THAT!, what kind of crap is waiting a week for a reply and then telling someone to use JB WELD???????? i mean come on the guy was going to pay for the parts and you didnt give him a part number???????
2. please tell us how you do your"rigerous testing"??? most companys test their roducts with a machine or on a truck itself! OBVIOUSELY YOUUR COMPANY MAKES THE PRODUCTS FROM CHINA OR WHATEVER AND THEY COME HERE AND YOU SELL THEM, just admit it you guys are here for the money thats absolutely IT!! It is kinda OBVIOUS you guys do not do testing because, i have NEVER EVER IN THE WHOLE TIME OF MW BEING IN THE HOBBY(8 years) herd of someone that has purchased a set of !!**WORKING**!! SHOCKS, how are you going to back-up my last sentence bill?
this is rediculous, its gotta be a joke rite? but its not.
