Ditto, very nice indeed! Did you hand cut all the checkerboard on the bottom?
Yes. The paper backing on Ultracoat makes it much easier to do than using Monocote. Just draw the squares using a yardstick or ruler to the size you want and then cut on a piece of glass. After laying on the first square, I use another square to provide the spacing to the next one. Close up inspection reveals that not all the corners come together perfectly, but not enough to bother me. A 1/16" piece of striping along the edges would help hide all of this, I just didn't feel like doing it. I've got a week to think about it while I'm at work though, so I may not be done yet[sm=wink_smile.gif].
I enjoyed the past five years flying the OMP Fusion 90. I liked the Saito 125 but vibration was such an issue, I had to use a bladder tank with a special pump to get fuel in or out.
Sad to say, I let the plane set up for a while and the Saito bearings rusted and the valves froze up. Horizon overhauled the Saito 125 for $80 and it runs good again. However,
I have converted many of my planes to electric and I'd like to do the same for the five year old Fusion 90. I bought a E-flight power 110, and a castle Phoenix ice 100 . To my
surprise, the wiring is 10 guage.
Will standard Deans Plugs work on the battery side of the speed control with 10 guage wire ?
What size prop should I use if I use the 5 cell 5000 Thunder Power Batteries that I have laying around ?
Must I really use 8 cell batteries that the Power 110 Outrunner asks for ?
The nose of the Fusion 90 seems strong even after five years of Saito 125 vibration. Will 3/8 ply be strong enough for the Power 110 ? Are there suggested e-conversion firewall configurations available for the Fusion 90 ?
