so here was an intristing thought i am going to get a second rotor for this engine and take it to my friend at Atkins rotary and see if we can lighten it and possibly lower the compression for greater boost we want to see if we can get 1 psi. Man this is setting up to be an awsome summer

i dont know too much about rotary engines, but how do you lower the compresion on an engine that already has VERY low compresion to start. it seems to me that with as small as the engine is, and the fuel type, you might wanna hold off on that mod until you know how its gonna act under low boost. you dont wanna over boost it, then youd be out an entire engine. it seems to me that the best internal upgrade would be to the apex seals, especially if your wanting higher boost.

we are going to look at alot of different angles to attack this engine lucky for me he will work for free on this project all it will cost me is parts we will be looking into upgrading all the internals to increas it's effincy but if i get a second rotor we will cad it and possibly use the atkins rotory CNC machine to make some parts this is were i'm gitting some of my mounts made but those are going to cost me

Try and get the UK Wankels, my brother said ours are better than the US ones for some reason...can't remember why but I'm sure a Wankel expert will clarify..here's one of ours..

Brother said the old one with the collector ring around the engine is the inferior version, with much less power compared to the new one.

Default RE: Has anyone seen a wankel rotary powered rc car like this

I use a car with a WANKEL O.S ENGINE. I started by buying a KYOSHO STADIUM FORCE
1 year ago. .15 engine is not that powerfull.
I'm a user of STRANGE RC CARS:
GIGA CRUSHER DF TWIN ENGINES
SUPER TEN 4 STROKES OS FS26SC
SUPER TEN DIESEL.
And now WANKEL fitting and running.........[>:]
If somebody do still want to say bad words about WANKEL, i wil [:@][:-] them.
It is easy to criticize but making it is more than talk. It is immagination, test, construction practice and knowledge.
Why a Wankel? To start with is WHY NOT A WANKEL [&:]
What about the results..........WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
1) When you start the engine everybody comes around you. It sounds like a MULTI-CYLINDER.
It is not screaming, only bubbeling ( blop blop blop...Not regularly)
Difficult to say it an other way.
2) Question of POWER. FAR, i say far far too much..........
I panic when 2nd speed switch on.....
Normally, this engine SHOULD NOT HAVE MUCH TORQUE. WRONG
It pulls the STADIUM FORCE RIGHT AWAY in 1 go to high speed without hesitation.
The best to do: run the truck at 1/3d throttle. It sounds like a competition QUAD
or bike with an engine ready to throw all power in once. It sounds like a DRAGSTER
TOP FUEL WHEN THEY ARE READY TO KICK OFF AT THE CHRISTMAS TREE....
I like so much this sound, it is DELICIOUS.
AND WHEN YOU OPEN THE THROTTLE, ZZZZzzWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH.....
3) The engine has a perfect idle. Never stops. To stop the engine, do not try to push the
nylon wheel of the starter against the flywheel. It worns the nylon but do not stop.
The best way is to pinch the fuel tube.
Not everithing is gorgeous. FUEL THIRSTY and a bit dirty engine.
My engine is still in running-in time. So still too rich. But, with 220cc fuel, i doubt it will run
longer than 5 min. That's not much. I'm trying to improve that.
It leaves the car dirty has fuel leaks are present: cranckshaft, blocks, carb, exhaust ( my fault).

Overheating is unknown by myself. A home made fan driven by the engine keeps it running
at about 85 °c. It is around 190°F?
I'm not using a lot the forums and i was surprised to see a car using EXACTLY the same type
of fan on a WANKEL. My construction was totally out of my head before seeing the similar.
Anyway, this principle is perfect and easy....

Somebody said it need a forced air induction. WRONG. I'm sure this engine would be abble to
pull HARD a 1/8 car, street or all-road without hesitation. Anyway, before going to SUPER-CHARGER, try it standard. O.S did a good work in design with plenty of power.

So please do not flood me with questions, pictures,.... everything will be done
in an other KYOSHO forum. Be patient......& curious.

Being this thread is over 3 years old you might do better posting in the engine thread. Might even do better in the airplane forums since it is made for airplanes.
